Today I want to share everything I carry around with me whenever I leave the house. Besides the obvious things I need with me (like my phone, keys and wallet), here are my essentials that I like to have on me to make me look like I have my life together.
My freshman year roomie, Julia, gave me the bag in the photo two years ago, and since then it has been my go to school bag, beach bag, everything bag. I take it everywhere with me and I love that the straps are navy and has my monogram on it. I don’t know exactly where she got it, but you can click here for similar: 1 & 2
Perfume: I got this travel size perfume for Christmas last year (shoutout to my Jewish Mommy a.k.a my mom’s best friend). When I was like 12, I thought these travel bottles were for your lips and let me tell you I was 100000% wrong. Don’t try it. I learned the hard way. But anyway, this particular “Walk on Air” smells really clean and refreshing, which is convenient to carry around in your purse.
Chapstick: So once upon a time when I was a freshman in college, I was on Accutane. If you don’t know what that is, basically its medicine that completely dries out your skin so you no longer get acne. It’s some pretty hardcore stuff, and I still experience really dry skin even though its been like 3 years. So one thing I always have on me is Chapstick. I hate dry lips literally so much and now that its getting chillier out, this is a total lifesaver.
Planner: I made a previous post about the best planners for college students over the summer. I bought this Kate Spade Zodiac Agenda because I had a coupon for 15% off and the images in it are so cute. I like to keep my planner with me as often as I can because life is just absolutely crazy right now. I can’t make any plans without checking my planner first.
Phone Charger: My phone dies constantly, so I try to never leave the house without a charger. This may be a sign I need a new phone, or am on my phone too much…but I would rather just ignore those problems and just charge my phone as often as I can.
Hairbrush: I have long hair that loves to tangle and knot even if I don’t touch it. As a child, my mom would tell me horror stories of little girls with blonde hair who would have to shave their heads if they didn’t brush their hair. So I pretty much brush my hair as often as I can. Thanks for the scare, Mom.
Pen: This sounds kind of stupid or obvious. Pens just make everything easier because you never know when you may need it. My dad has these great business pens that are made out of recycled water bottles and write super smooth. We literally have so many at my house, that I constantly give them out to my friends, even as birthday presents. If you don’t have a Well Water Solutions pen, you’re not really my friend tbh…
Earbuds: For the moments when you have to walk a long distance, are taking the metro or just want to appear unapproachable and antisocial, ear buds are the way to do it. There is a ton of great new music out now and you can get really fancy with earbuds if you don’t like the ones you get with your phone. #TeamIPhone
Travel Toothbrush: This may be a personal choice because of my braces, but I literally bring a little travel toothbrush with me everywhere because food always gets stuck in my teeth. Always. My ortho gave me mine, but you can totally pick one up at Target or CVS.
Protein Bar: I can’t be the only one whose stomach growls super loud and obnoxiously when I’m hungry. I try to always have a protein bar with me for those moments. I can’t tell you how many time I would be sitting in a silent classroom and my stomach starts to gurgle. Its literally so embarrassing. I usually eat Cliff Bars or Luna Bars.
Sunglasses: Not only is this for safety reasons when you drive, but also for style and aesthetic reasons. I tend to feel left out if I’m hanging out with people and I’m the only one without sunglasses. I also think that it looks weird if you are the only one without sunglasses in a picture. Not having sunglasses also means a lot of squinting, which looks so awful in pictures. Just save your eyes and save yourself the cringe worthy shot by bringing some sunglasses.
Feminine Products: GIRLS! YOU ALWAYS GOTTA BE PREPARED. If your mom never taught you to carry around a tampon or pad with you, just incase, she taught you wrong. Even if you don’t need it, another girl may be in a real bind and need one. And girls support and help girls on this blog. (Click the bolded title for a website to get free tampons).
Breath Mints: Bad breath is a case of bad manners. Seriously. No one wants to be around you if you have bad breath. I can’t chew gum right now, so I usually do these Listerine breath strips that dissolve on your tongue. I love a classic spearmint flavor.
Baby Lips: Not only does Baby Lips provide great moisture, this is also a great way to add a little bit of lip color at the last second. This is also more for when you need a little pop of color while on the go. I love a red lip look but don’t always have a mirror to apply delicately.
Water Bottle: My twin brother got me my marble S’well bottle for Christmas and its literally my favorite thing. I always try to carry a water bottle with me everywhere, especially on days I have class, because hydration is super important and really effects my mood. Before I got this S’well bottle, I used old plastic bottles that had cracks in them and water would spill on everything, so thank God I got a new one. It’s super durable and very posh looking.
Did I forget anything? Comment below if I left out one of your every day essentials!

I want to start keeping a phone charger in my bag. I always need one when I’m out of the house.
