Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day! I’m going to Ocean City with a bunch of friends to kick off my Spring Break with a St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl! I’m not Irish, but I did go to Ireland this past January for a few days so for the first time ever I am really excited to celebrate this holiday. I thought today would be a great time to post about my adventures in Ireland, to get in the St. Paddy’s spirit. Enjoy!
Day 1:
I went to Dublin after my study abroad program in Scotland was over. I went with 4 other girls from my class. After taking a plane from Edinburgh to Dublin, the girls and I went exploring and checked out Temple Bar!
Day 2: Guinness Factory
I would totally recommend getting a tour! It really isn’t expensive and the museum is seriously so fascinating. I used don’t even like beer, especially heavy beers like Guinness, but now I love it! It reminds me of drinking coffee because of the bitterness and tastes even better when you’re in Ireland.
Cliffs of Moher:
Ask your hotel about different bus trips to take. The girls and I knew we definitely wanted to go see the Cliffs of Moher, so we asked our hotel to help us find the cheapest deal. I feel like we could have found a better offer than what the hotel set us up with, but the Cliffs of Moher are absolutely breathtaking and a definite must if you go to Ireland. I’m kind of afraid of heights, but I got really close to the edge.
Rock of Cashel:
I thought these castle ruins were so interesting. We passed through this town on our way to Blarney and this castle/cathedral ruin is so cool! I’m really into abandoned places so this was a great surprise.
Blarney Castle: If you’ve never heard the story of the Blarney Stone, click here. One of the girls in my group was the only one in her family to have not kissed the stone yet, so we all made it a mission for all of us to kiss it. You had to climb up all of these stairs to the top of the castle and basically dangle yourself off the edge, but I’m glad I did it. Whether or not I have more eloquent speech is up for debate…
Cork:
Such a cute little town! I had the best burger ever here at Son of a Bun so 10/10 would recommend stopping by here.
Kilmainham Gaol:
This is one of the oldest prisons in Ireland! Architecturally, this building is super interesting. It also felt really haunted. Tickets to get a tour are online and pretty cheap. I’m a huge history person so the tour was literally so fascinating to me.

Trinity College:
10 comments on this blog post and I’ll transfer to Trinity for my last 7 weeks of college.
Last Day:
That night the girls and I went to an Irish Step Dancing dinner and show. I got Irish Stew, a Guinness and Irish Coffee. We all dressed up and the show had four dancers and a band that played classic celtic music. I didn’t really take pictures but it was the perfect way to end our trip.
