So like two weeks ago, I made a very impromptu decision to fly to Kentucky for a weekend. Why you ask? Because one of my best friends had an extra ticket to see Taylor Swift, and what kind of friend would I be if I let her go alone?! I legit bought my plane ticket 6 days before the concert and didn’t get any sleep that Friday night because 1. I have a hard time saying no to friends who want to go out and 2. because I had to be at the airport at 4am to catch my flight. I spent a total of 36 hours in the wonderful state of Kentucky (never thought I’d ever say that) but we packed so much into a short time and it had to be one of my favorite weekends ever.
So here’s a little back story; Here’s my little brother and Emily at our senior prom FOUR YEARS AGO. Emily and I became friends our freshman year even though she was way cooler than I was. We played field hockey and had three classes where we sat right next to each other because our last names both start with “M”. She went to college in Ohio but is doing this fancy graduate program in Louisville, KY and just moved down there. It’s actually pretty amazing we’re still friends after EIGHT YEARS and I am so thankful to still have this hilarious, sweet, generous and fun person in my life.
You might remember my Halloween costume where I made the really ugly tiger. Well turns out the real sequin tiger arrived 2 days after Halloween and I didn’t want a good $11.99 to go to waste so I made this giant t-shirt dress. I love dressing up for Taylor Swift shows.
Disclaimer: IT WAS LITERALLY SO HOT AT THIS CONCERT. Kentucky was literally going through a heat wave. Even Taylor Swift was like “Wow Louisville, it is so hot here but we’re in this together”. Emily and I were sweating so bad the entire time but it was so worth it.
Don’t ask me why, but there was a time when I literally SWORE I would never go to Kentucky. My friends used to joke that if I ever went on a cross country road trip, I would only make it to 49 states. But this ended up being one of my favorite trips I’ve ever been on. I don’t think Emily and I stopped laughing the entire time and Louisville is such a charming city. It wasn’t too big but there was so much to do even during a heat wave. The food everywhere is so good, bourbon is THE BOMB and I am so happy I got to see Emily and my girl T-Swift again! I’m seeing the Reputation tour twice this week (because I work 40 hours a week and have no self control with my paycheck) but seeing this show with Emily was such a cool experience because we used to listen to Fearless and Speak Now together in high school. I would recommend visiting Louisville to anybody but its better if you have an Emily or a Taylor Swift to go see while you’re there.
Here’s what I wore during my adventures in Louisville!
