So honestly this post is a little old. I made this photo collage like 8 months ago. Since then I’ve tried a few new products or found cheaper alternatives. But I don’t really have time to make a new collage so we’ll stick with this one. I’m not a huge make-up expert, but thanks to the help of some friends who actually know what they’re doing and have been kind enough to show me some tips (shoutout to the meatballs) I have a basic make-up routine. I usually go to Ulta for these products because that was the only make-up store in Salisbury, but also because they have great deals (get the Ulta Rewards card!) Below I have linked a bunch of my favorite beauty products, where to get them and the basics as to how I put them on.
This post is not at all sponsored. I’m just sharing my honest opinion.
- Bare Minerals Matte Powder: In the summer when I have a tan, I usually use Light (08) but in the winter when I’m paler, I’ll use fairly medium (05). This powder is not at all heavy on my skin but still has great coverage. I’m lucky enough to have fairly good skin (thanks Accutane) but I have had friends tell me Bare Minerals is really good for their skin.
- NARS Orgasm Blush: Its honestly just so pretty. There is a hint of sparkle in this nice peachy color which is good for all seasons. I know other companies have made knock-off versions but I do prefer this one. It lasts quite a while so the high price is worth it.
- NAKED Palette: I can’t believe its retiring! I don’t know what I’m going to do when I run out of this current palette. I don’t know much about blending or whatever but “half-baked”, “sin” and “copper” are my favorites shades. I’ll also throw a little black in the corner of my eyes. Not sure what it does but I think it looks good. I have pretty large eyelids so I think I need start learning how to blend and shade….
- Better Than Sex Mascara: Believe the hype. I love this mascara! I’ve been using it for the past 3 years now and my eyelashes have never looked better. I have blonde eyelashes so even when I wear minimal make-up, I still like to wear some mascara. I never knew my lashes could look this long and dark.
- BB Cream: This use to be the only kind of cover-up I wore in high school….which wasn’t necessarily the best considering I used to have bad acne. These days its a nice and subtle base coat to my face before I put on powder. I have really dry skin so the more moisture the better.
- Covergirl Concealer: Rule of thumb: always go at least one shade lighter than you are. This isn’t in the picture above, but I use this linked concealer for under my eyes. I usually make little upside-down triangles and then blend them. It makes me look less tired! Tip: making the triangle shape instead of just dots under your eyes makes the dark shading/bags much less noticeable.
- NARS Lip Pencil: I love a good red lip and I’ve always liked the NARS collection. I tend to use “Cruella” or “Dragon Girl” but there are a bunch of shades I am looking forward to trying.
- Liquid Liner: I love how thin of a line I can get over a lid with this particular eyeliner. On more casual days I don’t usually wear top eyeliner but when I have a big event or am going out with my friends, I like to wear it. I used to be good at drawing wings but as of late I’ve lost my touch!
- Eyeliner Pencil: When I was in high school I used to go heavy on bottom eyeliner. I mastered the skill of using pencil to my waterline, but that tends to make my eyes look smaller. Now I just used pencil to help shade in eyeliner on my top lid.
- Beauty Blender: This is pretty obvious but this is essential for blending. Remember to get it wet first!
- Essie Nail Polish: I hate leaving the house without my nails done. Lately I’ve been getting SNS done but on days when I do my nails myself, I prefer Essie nail polish. My favorite colors are coral, baby blue and dark red.
- Setting Spray: I don’t like using primer because I feel like it enlarges my pours, so I usually just use setting spray when I finish putting everything on. But take my advice and put your mascara on after the setting spray because you will flinch and get mascara all over your cheeks.
I am not super make-up savvy but these are my favorite products and what I usually put on for a normal day of make-up. If I was a Youtuber I would make a video of how I put it on but its honestly not that exciting. If you have any questions to what I wear, comment below!
