I am so excited for the next 13 days! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I’ve been hardcore planning all of these posts for weeks now. First up for my 13 Posts of Halloween: Decades costumes! In this post I provide links and tips for simple and easy Halloween costumes for the 1920s, 1950s, 1970s and 1980s. Hope you like them!
1920’s
I am so obsessed with the 1920s so this is one of my favorite costumes I’ve done. I got this dress from a friend for my 18th birthday party (it was Gatsby themed). The headband and pearls are from Amazon! I’m also wearing my old character shoes from high school theatre (lol). To complete the look, I recommend dark lipstick and curls!
Black Sequin Dress // Pearls // Fishnets // Headband // Heels
1950’s
Weird fact: I’ve had this poodle skirt since I was 5. AND IT STILL FITS. The skirt really makes the costume, so if you really want to be this 1950s sock hop babe, invest in the skirt and find a white tshirt, converse, hair ribbon and sunglasses to complete the look. (Lets all also agree to ignore how dirty my Converse are).

Sandy
I decided to include my “Sandy” costume in this decades section because its like the previous costume’s alter ego. I love this look!!! I surprisingly had everything for this costume already in my closet. One tip I have is to make your curls as big as possible! My hair was dirty so the curls kept falling out 🙁 Red lipstick is also a must but I also own a lot of red lipstick.
Off the Shoulder Crop Top // Leather Leggings // Red Heels // Lace Moto Jacket
1970’s
Here we have a costume that I didn’t think I could pull together because my daily style is not boho at all. Mamma Mia 2 was so big this year, I figured some people would definitely want to be a hippie for Halloween. Its actually really easy! All you need is flowy and floral clothing. I gave my hair a middle part and put on a lot of neutral make-up.
Headband // Tie Front Crop Top // Pattern Maxi Skirt
1980’s
This is a great last minute 80’s costume! I actually had to pull together a similar outfit last year for a birthday party. All you really need is bright workout clothes, a windbreaker and a scrunchie. I’m lucky that my parents still have this authentic 80s jacket because I really think it pulled everything together. (Also, this is the perfect time for bright and colorful eyeshadow) Super comfortable too!
Windbreaker // Sports Bra // Hot Pants // Converse // Fanny Pack (not pictured)// Scrunchie
So this is day 1 of my 13 Halloween posts! Hope you liked these costumes and found some inspiration from them. I have so many more planned and I can’t wait for you to see them!
If I missed a key element to one of these costumes or forgot your favorite decade, let me know in the comments!
