Fun fact that I love to tell people: I took Photo 1…twice. That makes it sound like I failed out the first time and had to take it again, but the truth is I took an Intro to Photography class my senior year of high school and then again my senior year in college. The funnest (most fun?) fact about those classes too is that they were all about film photography. (I did take a digital photography class abroad in London, and that class ended up helping me the most with my photography). But I do have a lot and appreciation for film photography and a personal affection for this vintage camera I’m holding above. Click ‘read more’ to find out why.
This vintage camera you see here is actually my late grandfather’s. It’s an Argus C3 and was most popular from 1939-1966. It’s usually called “The Brick” for obvious reasons. I found it when I was a junior in high school and was also so fascinated with it, even if I couldn’t get it to work at the time. I think it’s cool that this camera has basically traveled through time, photographed so many memories in such a fascinating time in history and especially because it helped to capture moments of my family and especially of my dad when he was way younger. My senior year of college I took The Brick into my photo class and my professor took a look at it. Apparently it still works! So even though it’s been a while since I’ve done any film photography, my goal is to take some photos with it this summer. I just bought some film so fingers crossed this works out! Stick around until September to see if any of them come out!
This is so comfy and the perfect length on my tall frame. It comes in 4 different colors and is also available in plus sizes! I also wore it in this post from Nashville. My hair is summer curly in these pics because I took these the same day I took my Diamond’s Are A Girl’s Best Friend pictures with Kalen. I chose this outfit and hairstyle for these pictures because they remind me of a 1940’s school girl. And I love a cute vintage take on a casual summer outfit.
