I’m starting a new series here on the blog! Every week I’m finding new things that I love and want to share with everybody…but I usually just post it on my Instastory and I feel like it doesn’t really stick. Plus I am just a really big fan of lists. So in an effort to share more of what I’m reading, listening to, buying, doing, etc… I am starting this series of ‘Weekly Need-To-Know’. Will I be able to keep it up every week? Who knows? Stick around to find out. But anyway, here’s all the stuff I’ve been doing this week that I think you need to know:
Articles I’m reading:
- Why Dating Should Be Messy: I stumbled upon this article when I was checking out The Stripe for the first time and it felt like fate. I don’t think I’ve officially shared this on the blog, but ya girl is back in the dating game and OMG it can be so messy and stressful (and also really cool) but mainly confusing. So finding this article felt like a sign from God saying” Hey Kim, you’re doing fine”. Which I needed. I sent this article to like five of my friends.
- Modern Love: Let’s Meet Again In 5 Years: I love this column and it’s been a while since I’ve read it but now I have a whole NYT subscription. This particular story made me smile. I didn’t even release it was was written about a time 30 years ago but I guess it would be easier back then to break-up with someone and not see them again until 5 years later at a designated meeting spot since there is no social media.
- Is the Impossible Burger Good? : My family still gets a physical paper every weekend but for some reason we got one on Wednesday too. My dad was just reading through it while we were getting ready to go to work and he showed me this article about the Impossible Burgers. I’ve always wanted to try one because I love meat replacements but I didn’t think they made their way to the Baltimore area yet. I’m glad I read this article because now I know what to try and where I should stick to just eating meat.
Podcasts I’m listening to:
- Bad On Paper: I’ve only listened to one episode but I subscribed already and can’t wait for more. This particular episode talks about money which is something I need to get more in control of and become more confident in demanding what I deserve. Becca and Grace have great commentary and I feel like I’m learning a lot. It’s nice to hear people who are very accomplished in what they do, talk about how they got to be there (since I’m on the up and up). They also talk a lot about books! (not that I need more books to read…)
- The Enough Podcast: So my friend told me about this podcast because she knows Anna, the host, personally. Anna lives in Baltimore which I think is so cool and she just shares so much personal wisdom that I just really resonate with. The overall message of the podcast is that you are and have always been enough and it’s up to you to establish your boundaries and self-worth.
- The Rooted Life: Morgan and Dorian are so confident, honest and rooted (pun intended) and I love how they share their faith. But they also share their struggles with trusting God’s plans sometimes. They have such great mindsets about life and God. I like to listen to this one right before work to help shape my mindset. They have a part called “Glows and Grows”where they chat about where they’re succeeded and what they could work on during that week and I love that concept.
Books I’m reading:
- I’m still working on “Dying of The Light” but Autumn just gave me “#GirlBoss” so I really just want to jump into that. Now that summer is over I have soooooooo many books to read but I never make time for it. I know, I suck. I also just got the devotional “100 Days To Brave” and I want to be really good about reading it everyday. My first devotional ever!
What I’m Listening to:
- Literally nothing besides Lover. It has to be one of my favorite albums ever. I waited months for it’s release and now it’s been on repeat for the last week. Currently my top three are ‘Cruel Summer’, ‘Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince’ and ‘ Death By a Thousand Cuts’. So many of my friends have texted me how much they love this album so I’ve been sending them this survey-sorter website I found on Tumblr. It’s crazy how different everyone’s lists are! From what I can tell, ‘False God’ is always in someone’s top three or bottom three. And you already know what my top three are…
What I’m buying:
- JEANS! I need some new jeans really bad. It’s almost September which I feel like is the best time to get new jeans. LOFT is having a sale this weekend and that’s definitely a part of my plan. But I’ve always wanted a pair of Madewell jeans too…can you have too many pairs of jeans?
- Evil Queen Candles: I took a break from candles during the summer because I was running around so much and I lost my long lighter. But now fall is coming and I love burning candles after work (even if it makes my parents nervous). Evil Queen is a small business that makes the cutest, quirkiest candles. They’re also vegan and make for great presents for people.
- My birthday outfit: My 24th birthday is happening next month on the 24th…and that birthday usually involves a certain theme…so I’ve been on the look out for certain pieces…
Current Obsessions:
- Rose Water Spray: I’m not sure what motivated me to buy this the other day at Trader Joe’s but I’m so glad I did. I spray it on my face before a workout, before work and before bed and I love the way it feels and smells. I can’t feel it on my chin but hey, that’s post jaw surgery life for you I guess.
- New BareMinerals BarePro Longwear Lipstick: I just bought a bunch of make-up from Ulta but this is definitely my favorite purchase. I’m a sucker for a deep red lip and this Cranberry color is all I’m going to wear this fall and winter.
- Starbucks Pumpkin Cold Brew: Have you tried it yet? Almost everyone I know who has loves it. I was skeptical because I don’t normally like PSL but cold brew is one of my favorite things and the pumpkin makes me even more excited for fall. I have to try to resist going every single day before work…
What’s on my to-do list:
- Sign up for Title Boxing: I tried out that class a few months ago with Kayla and I really enjoyed it…I just haven’t been back yet. I need to mix up my work-outs.
- Clean out my closet and switch summer clothes to fall: I have a wandering eye for new fall clothes but I need to be responsible first and clean out my closet. I am such a hoarder when it comes to clothes and now my closet has taken over my brothers old room. So now I have two closets? That’s too much. Get ready for a lot of posts on Poshmark. I also want to sell some things on ThredUp.
- Figure out my 401K: Yep. So that’s adulting huh? I thought I lost my papers I need to sign up. I just found them so I guess that’s adulting too.
Plans for this week: It’s Labor Day weekend but all of my time is going to be focused on two of my best friends getting married. I am so excited for Autumn and Seth and I’m so honored to be a bridesmaid. I still have a lot to do to get ready for it but I am just so happy that this weekend is finally here. It’s going to be filled with so much joy and love. Here’s my schedule for the weekend:
- Friday: Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner at Bar Louie
- Saturday: Afternoon wedding party in Annapolis
- Sunday: WEDDING !!!!
- Monday: Brunch at The Ale House
What are you up to this week? Comment below!
Thanks for reading! xx
