Aw Shit, here we go again
Hi there! Who’s ready for this week’s need to know? Last week I went to Charleston with my momma but I’ll talk more about that in another blog post. This post focuses on mainly this past week because it was my birthday week. I have been a little sick for most of this week too so I don’t have a lot of podcasts or articles to share but still wanted to share some fun things that have been going on with me lately!
Books I’m Excited to Read:
- The Night Circus: My friend Ashely recommended it to me and it involves a circus (duh) and magic and I feel like it’s a great read for fall.
- City of Girls: I’m borrowing this from Kalen but omg I am so excited for this book! Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of “Eat, Pray, Love” and this new book takes place in the 1940s and involves NYC, scandal, glamour and adventure.
- Ghosted: So Carly from Carly the Prepster posted about this book a long time ago but I saw it at a book store a few weeks ago and remembered how much she raved about it! Super interesting concept that I have definitely thought about before so this is gonna be a good read.

What I’m Buying:
So I just bought a new laptop (FINALLY!!!) so I’m technically not buying anything right now until I recover from that. But I did share some things on my fall wishlist here.
Birthday Recap:
Because my birthday was on a Tuesday I honestly didn’t do much out of the ordinary. I went to Orange Theory in the morning and it totally kicked my butt. I went to work and we had a little potluck during lunch. Then I went to therapy and it was very constructive and helpful. Then I went home, Facetimed my brother and ate take-out with my parents. Pretty chill day but a good day because I got so many ‘happy birthdays’ from people! So if you wished me a happy birthday, thank you!
Lizzo Concert:
WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW! I had never been to The Anthem in DC and it has to be my favorite venue now. Lizzo puts on an amazing show that is so centered around equality and self love. I love her so much, she is such a performer and the energy in the venue is just incredible. TBH I felt totally awful on our way there because I was sick the whole day but after a few drinks and actually being in the venue, I felt much better…until I got home at 12:30am. But anyway thanks to Allison for surprising me with tickets!
Also so many people came up to me at the concert to compliment my shirt so I wanted to drop the link here (it’s on sale!)
Sick Remedies:
I took a sick day from work because I have a super nasty cold and was feeling super overwhelmed with life. I am coughing like crazy and just feeling super tired and slumped. Since I have a big week a head of me I took the day off to just sleep and regroup. It also gave me a chance to run out and get all of these cold remedies:
- Ginger-Turmeric Hot Tea
- Orange Slices
- OJ
- Ginger Shot
- Muscinex
- DayQuil
- TheraFlu
Side note: Can you overdose on cold remedies?
Quick To Do List:
- Mail ThredUp boxes
- Post social media for my church
- Turn in jar of coins
Weekend Plans:
LOTS OF FUN PLANS THIS WEEKEND! On Saturday I am participating in a walk for Suicide Prevention in the morning and then going to another wedding dress fitting for Kayla. Then I am having a big golden birthday party in Baltimore with my brothers and a bunch of my best friends and it’s going to be so fun! Then on Sunday, Allison and I are going to Sunday in the Country at Merriweather Post Pavilion (hopefully after some brunch and if I survive my party). We got free lawn seats from running a 5K last year so that will be fun. I’ve always wanted to see Jordan Davis live!
Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
Thanks for reading! xx
