Whether you’ve been following my blog for a while or just stumbled upon it today, you should have figured out by now how much I love Taylor Swift. Total Stan Status. Most of my KimberKopy’s are actually recreations of Taylor Swift outfits and music videos! So in order to celebrate “13 years of Taylor Swift”, I knew I had to do something from her debut album. For those that don’t know, 13 years ago today, Taylor released her first album (and 13’s are a big deal). I have to admit that I didn’t really listen to Taylor or country music when her first album came out, but after discovering her during the Fearless era, she and her music have become such a huge part of my life. For so many years I’ve treated her album releases like Christmas morning, waited eagerly by the TV to see what she was wearing to an award show, saved up money to afford a ticket to her concerts, and spent countless hours listening to her music whether I was happy, heartbroken or just needed to feel understood.
I know that Taylor doesn’t own the masters to most of her work, including her debut album and this song, but I still wanted to share this recreation 1. I am so excited for her to rerecord her albums next year and 2. Despite what has happened and how much I support Taylor, I will always be thankful that on this day 13 years ago she released her first album and changed the music industry and my life forever.

I had so much fun with this shoot! A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to try to recreate this iconic look from Taylor’s “Our Song” music video, but I was struggling to find a front porch to take them. I was looking up different locations in my hometown that had steps and I magically stumbled upon the Historic Savage Mill Manor. The second I saw the front porch with the yellow door, I became obsessed! This is an absolutely gorgeous, historic house took my breathe away in so many ways and looks like it would be such an amazing wedding venue. I even go to check out the bridal suite upstairs which is so elegant and classy (but that’s another blog post 😉 ) Since this manor works as a local venue and constantly hosts events, I reached out to the folks who work there via email and was so pleasantly surprised to learn that yes, I could come over to the house one day and shoot my pictures on the front porch! (Hooray for taking a chance!) The Manor Event Specialist was so hospitable and friendly and I look forward to when I can take more pictures there one day soon! Thanks again to the team at the Manor House for letting me shoot here!
I’m also very proud of this shoot because I did it all by myself! I set up my camera and tripod and kept running back in forth from behind the camera to the top of the steps because I don’t have a clicker on my camera. It was a lot of work but I think these turned out so good and I am proud of the fact that my tripod and self-timer skills are getting better! #GoKim! I also just want to say this house faces a street and there were soooo many cars that stopped at this stop sign and just stared at me while I was running back and forth in a tutu. Good thing I’m not shy!
