You’re the king baby I’m your queen.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I think I’m making it a tradition to post a Blank Space recreation every year on Valentine’s Day. Last year when I did this recreation, I think it was the first time I actually bought an entire costume and props just for a recreation. And in just a year we have come a long way! Thank God Blank Space has so many iconic outfits and thank God my attitude towards dating and men right now is still pretty in sync with the message of this music video (not actually, but kinda). Details on where I got everything for this outfit and scene are below!
So here is the actual screenshot of the scene I wanted to recreate. I knew I needed a yellow striped dress to start. For years I considered buying one but I’m so glad I didn’t! For the last few months I have been using my Rent the Runway Unlimited Membership to get a lot of pieces for my #KimberKopy recreations and was so happy when I found this dress! I already had the sunglasses from 2 years ago (they’re my ‘Kim who wants to speak to the manager’ glasses) and I originally bought these diamond dangly earrings for Autumn and Seth’s wedding. I already had all these rings too, even though I don’t normally where them.
HUGE shoutout to Kayla for being my awesome photographer for this shoot (she stood on a table over me just to get the shot) and for helping me set up the scene. I tried to be as authentic to the actual screenshot of the setting as I could with heart candies, champagne, cookies, fruit, etc… It’s too bad I didn’t have a man’s leg to rest my head on, so that’s why I used a pillow. Also, apologies to my mom for using her nice blue sheet as a blanket in this shot. It was super muddy in my backyard that day, but I think all the mud stains came out.
So after making this post, I’ve decided I have two goals: first is to recreate every single outfit from the Blank Space music video (may take a few years but hey, it’ll be fun) and I would absolutely love to go visit the mansion where the video is filmed at (it’s n New York). I won’t set a hard timeline for these goals, but just thinking about them makes me super excited. I’m very proud of how these turned out and I love the planning process and of course getting to hang out my awesome photographer friends.
Here are my other Blank Space posts you should totally check out: 1 & 2
Hope you’re spending Valentine’s Day with a Starbucks Lover (real or coffee)! Comment below what scene from this music video you think I should do next!
Thanks for reading! xx
