Let’s talk skincare products. Something I have always wanted for myself is a set skincare routine. I’m realizing now that this is actually a pretty impossible thing to accomplish since I’m constantly trying new products and skin needs change just like the weather. So with that being said, here are 5 skincare products that I’ve been currently loving for my face.
Here’s a little bit about my skin type before we begin: I tend to have pretty dry skin, and rarely ever a pimple anymore. I feel like it’s pretty normal to have a little redness in the cheeks and bags under the eyes. My biggest focuses when I’m choosing skincare products is moisturizing and preparing for the inevitable aging my face will endure one day.
I’m not including this in my actual list of 5 products, but I recently got a set of “Erase Your Face” towels after my friend Ashley told me about them and I love them. These towels are super soft and are great make-up removers whether you use regular water or micellar water. I also feel like I’m being less wasteful than if I were to buy disposable make-up wipes. So cheers to being more sustainable! I always start my skincare routine by washing off my make-up with one of these bad boys. It’s actually pretty rare for me to wear make-up these days but these are super handy. I’ll also use an actual face wash before I start, but I forgot to bring it to this shoot so let’s just move on.
1.Mario Badescus Enzyme Cleansing Gel
I totally jumped on the Mario Badescus bandwagon when Ulta was having a sale of their products. I’m also tried the Aloe Spray and Exfoliating Cream, but I like the Cleansing Enzyme Gel the best. It leaves my skin feeling really fresh and clean. I also love the smell and how this helps control the redness in my face. This is always the first step for me after I’ve wiped off my make-up and cleaned my face with hot water and a foam cleanser.
2.Vitamin C Toning Serum
After the cleansing gel, it’s time to move onto a serum. I have been curious about serums for so long because I see them in so many people’s skincare routine but I never knew which one would be good or even what they do. I used a coupon at Ulta to buy this Vitamin C toning serum and I have seen such a difference in maintaining moisture throughout the day. My complexion is also brightener, which I totally need during the winter.
Side note: always make sure when you’re rubbing products on your face in an upward motion and not down. Apparently that helps with the appearance of aging.
3.Tula Eye Balm
So if you’ve ever followed a blogger ever, you probably know about Tula products. I tried the eye balm a little reluctantly but now I definitely believe in the hype. I’ve tried other eye creams before but they were definitely not as effective in helping my under eye bags. It also just feels really nice on my skin when I put it on. It’s like it has a cooling effect. It does leave little white marks under my eyes (I’ve heard of people using it for highlight but I don’t do that lol) but usually I just blend it in more if its too noticeable.
4.Tea Tree Oil
So a little fun fact about me: I was on Accutane 6 years ago during my freshman year of college. It was a pretty tough experience but overall I’m glad I did it because it totally cleared my acne. Now it’s extremely rare for me to get a single zit, but when I do, I just put a little bit of tea tree oil on it to dry it out. The smell is really potent, but it’s pretty natural and you only need a tiny dab of it to get the job done. I got this tiny bottle from Trader Joe’s and it’s lasted me several months.
5.Simple Rich Moisturizer
Ever since I was on Accutane, this has been my favorite moisturizer. I’ve tried a bunch over the years but Simple products are super gentle on my skin. I moisturize my face at least 3 times a day (during the winter, of course) and its always my last step when I’m doing my skincare routine. I don’t normally wear make-up to work so this is the final product I put on my face before an 8 hour work day and it genuinely does make skin feel so soft and moisturized for the entire day.
This post is not sponsored and I was not gifted any of these products (I know…big bummer right?). I genuinely love using these and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Couldn’t help but do a Home Alone face in the mirror during this shoot. Shoutout to Allison for taking these pictures and shoutout to the Savage Mill Manor House for letting me take photos in their bathroom. Here are some other pictures in that very bathroom.
