This blog post has been in the works since January. I’ve always loved Taylor Swift’s street style, so I want to start a new series here on the blog of recreating some of my favorite looks. First up: The Lover Era. Now compared to other eras, there have not been a ton of candid options for me to pick from. But I still had a lot of fun finding pieces for these four looks. Everything I’m wearing is either rented, thrifted, from a small business, or something I already owned. Details and more pictures are below!
Outfit 1:
So this is the outfit that actually inspired this post. Taylor wore this outfit in Paris back in August. I was looking at Rent the Runway back in January and when I saw this dress was available, I knew I had to do a recreation of it. I definitely wouldn’t have rented this dress if I hadn’t seen it on Taylor first, but it’s a fun pattern. Safe to say I think this is a pretty iconic Taylor look now.
Outfit 2:
I am honestly surprised with how accurate I got this one. Taylor wore this outfit to Gigi Hadid’s birthday party back in April. Funny part is, the party was jean themed, but Taylor wore a pink blazer and dress (because she can do whatever she wants). I found this blazer on Rent The Runway and immediately thought of this look. My friends gave me this floral dress I’m wearing underneath for my birthday (you’ll probably see it in another recreation soon!). I have pink hair spray for my hair, but it didn’t really show up in these pictures (womp womp). Also, I wish I had a cat bag. That is very classic Taylor, truth be told, I’m not a cat person.
Outfit 3:
I have to admit, this is my least favorite outfit in the bunch, mainly because of the shorts. Not flattering at all! I wanted to recreated this look since she showed up to the Stonewall Inn last June to perform “Shake It Off”. But I found it was pretty hard to find everything she’s wearing (or close to it) while on a budget. The shorts and blazer are from Rent the Runway, but I wish I had actually chosen a lighter color blazer and shorter, more gold shorts. I may try to redo this look in the future, but for now, I think you get the point. The shirt I’m wearing is thrifted from Poshmark, and I also wore it in this post. I made the little flowers on the shoes all by myself with a colored pencil and some construction paper. Because I’m artistic like that.
Outfit 4:
Taylor wore this outfit last April during her countdown to her announcement of ME! being her new single (what an exciting time…I miss it so much). I’m pretty proud of myself for this look, because I tie-dyed this jacket myself. It was $7 on Poshmark and I have doing a bunch of tie dye since this whole quarantine thing started. I got the shorts off of ThredUp and this shirt is actually made by a Swiftie friend has makes and sells her own Taylor merch! Kait is so sweet and so creative! Check out more of her merch here!
I don’t really have links for this post since everything is thrifted or rented, but if you are hoping to recreate any of these looks like I did, I would first check out this Taylor Swift fashion blog. I’m so obsessed with this blog that I check it every week. It makes find things for these recreations a lot easier.
Next up in this series… reputation candids! Can’t wait to get started on them, I think I have most everything I need to do them! And of course, a ton of free time stuck at home.
