I have been spending an embarrassing amount of time on TikTok lately. Like I used to be one of those people that swore they would never get on TikTok… and now here I am. I’m not a dancer and I usually use TikTok to show off my recreations, but at the same time, I find myself wasting a ton of time just watching videos. People are so creative! And it is very common for me to stay up late laughing to myself at some dumb TikToks, and be exhausted the next morning for work. But on the bright side, I am learning some new skills, like how to cook new things! TikTok recipes are usually really simple and only require a few ingredients, but you will have to watch the video over and over again, and pause it a lot to capture the directions. But it’s worth it! Here are 5 new recipes I learned from some cool people on TikTok.
Mint Cookies:
Here’s the recipe I followed:
Confession: I actually only had Mint instead of Peppermint, but I didn’t think these tasted like toothpaste! My whole family loved them and the bright green color was super fun. Mint and chocolate is my favorite combo so I can’t wait to make these cookies again. I know the video says these are for St. Patricks Day, but my sweet tooth knows no time restriction.
Smoothie Bowl:
Here’s the recipe I followed:
I had tried to make smoothie bowls in the past, but they always ended up really soup-y. I had no idea just adding frozen cauliflower rice would help that! I’ve also used Nicole’s recipes to make chocolate smoothie bowls, which are absolutely delicious too.
Trader Joe’s French Toast
Here’s the recipe I followed:
I’ve made this twice now and I’m obsessed. I don’t have the pumpkin spice or coconut cream like in the video, but I usually just use cinnamon spice and some vanilla cream instead. The main factor in making this delicious French Toast is the French Brioche bread. It is so fluffy and makes such a difference.
Breakfast Quesadilla
Here’s the recipe I followed:
Also, I want to add I usually eat this for lunch since my mornings are super crazy with work, which is why I have a La Croix in the picture. These egg quesadillas have become my new favorite thing. They are so easy to make and so filling. I like to switch it up each day and add veggies or sausage too. I also just bought these habanero lime tortillas from TJ’s, which add even more flavor. If you couldn’t tell, I’m a big Trader Joe’s guy at the moment.
Whipped coffee
Here’s a similar recipe to what I follow:
Yes… I have given into the whole ‘whipped coffee’ craze. But here’s the thing… its actually so good! Its definitely a richer coffee taste which is what I like. And its iced! I can never get mine super thick and fluffy, but I usually whip it until its like a caramel brown color. I also like to shake up my mason jar after I’ve scooped it on top to get it mixed with the milk and creamer. Pro-tip: use an electric mixer to whip all the ingredients together! It makes this so much easier and faster.
