So because I literally have nothing better to do and I truly love to place dress up, I decided to do the Met Gala Challenge…again. If you haven’t seen my first post, here’s the link. These recreations are made from real clothes that I own and accessories that I already had (it’s that amazing???). And please note: no tinfoil was harmed in the making of these recreations. I had so much fun making these and am pretty proud with how they turned out. Hope you like them!
Outfit 1:
I recreated Princess Diana’s first and only ever Met Gala appearance from 1996. She wore this floor-length slip dress by John Galliano. She wore sapphire jewelry which I absolutely adore because it’s my birthstone… but sadly, all of my fine jewels are at the cleaners.
This gorgeous navy dress I’m wearing is my mom’s from 1999. She bought it at Hechts’s for a fancy 2000 NYE party. My mom in the 90s looked so much like Princess Diana it’s insane. And I really do love that I fit into this dress of hers. The pearls are a combination of both me and my mom’s and I added a lace bralette under the dress to resemble Diana’s more. This has to be my favorite look in this post.
Outfit 2:
I love this old Hollywood glam vibe! I recreated Taylor Hill‘s 2019 Met Gala look. She’s wearing a Ralph Lauren dress with jewels by Butani and Yvan Tufenkjian.
It was actually pretty easy to recreate this look. This fur coat is my great aunt’s (you may remember it from this post) and I bought this dress from Poshmark for ~another recreation~ I’m still working on. This necklace is actually the belt I wore for Kayla’s wedding.
Outfit 3:
I love Lily Alridge’s Met Gala looks (especially this one) but I was excited to stumble upon this look from the 2017 Met Gala because I had everything already! She wore an optic white gown with cutouts, which was custom-made by Ralph Lauren.
My dress is off-white but I’m pretty proud that I was able to get a similar cut out. I got this dress from PrettyLittleThing and wore it in this post. I love any excuse to wear these red thigh high boots again (see this post and this post) and the pink fabric from over my face is from my Marilyn Monroe post. This is a friendly reminder I can’t really pull off a middle part but we will let that go.
Outfit 4:
Gaga is so fabulous! This is just one look of her 4 entrance outfits to the 2019 Met Gala. This hot pink gown complete with the giant black cell phone bag is by Judith Leiber.
I wore this dress from Lulu’s (seen in this post) with this Kate Spade pearl choker, Diff sunglasses, a lace bralette and my obnoxious phone case I got from Amazon. I stuck my hair in the choker to bob it, but now I really want to cut my hair again.
Outfit 5:
Oh how I wish I was as attractive as Harry Styles. I also don’t know how to pose as a man but you get the point. He wore a design by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele who has styled him before. I love the sheer top that exposes his tattoos and his single pearl earring.
I originally got this top from Lulu’s and actually ended up tying some sheer black gloves around my neck and on the front of the shirt. The pants are actually a rolled up jumpsuit from Lulu’s too. So basically, this look should be sponsored by Lulu’s but its not. My pearl earring is from Kate Spade, and just because you can see it, I think my bra is from Macy’s.
Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!
