So the past few weeks have been really hard for me. I’ve been working extra hours and not sleeping well just because of stress and anxiety. I’ve been working from home for more than 8 weeks now and I was having some feelings of hopelessness about the whole “reopening of states” and whether things will actually go back to normal soon (if ever). And while I’m trying my best to manage all of that on my own and navigate this “new normal”, I want to share some of the things that have brought me some joy in the midst of all of this chaos. And since I stopped doing my need-to-knows, I figured this is a good, new series that can help enforce the importance of “the little things” on our lives. Especially during such a crazy time period. So to kick off the weekend, here are 5 little things that brought me joy this week.
New Twilight Book: I can’t tell you how stupid happy I am for this new book. Confession time: I was so obsessed with Twilight in middle school and high school, and to this day I love a good Twilight movie marathon. The new book comes out on August 4th and it is “Twilight” from Edward’s perspective. You can bet I’m breaking out the Team Edward t-shirt and picking up the book at midnight. Every time I think about it, I smile and lately I’ve been living for those moments where you forget about the weight of the world and just find little reasons to smile.
Taylor Swift City of Lover Performance: LIVE TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT YESSS GIVE IT TO ME! Since Taylor postponed LoverFest this year (and all of my other concerts have gotten postponed) I have been super bummed out. But I am so excited to see this live concert of all the songs she performed off of Lover back in September in Paris. If anyone wants to stream it together and have a virtual party, HMU. The show airs on ABC on May 17 and then is available on Hulu and Disney+.
Making Sales on Poshmark: This is something super small, but I recently made a few sales on my Poshmark account. So not only is it great to get some extra cash right now, it’s nice to see the hard work of cleaning out my closet has started to pay off. I tried to be honest about what I will actually wear again, and I like the idea that some of my clothes I wouldn’t wear anymore can get some new life in the hands of new people. My friend Bethany made this awesome post with tips on how to sell on Poshmark and trust me it works!
PSYCH!: So I was on a Zoom happy hour last week with some friends and my one friend, Amanda, told all of us on the call to download this app called “PSYCH!”. It’s an Ellen app and it is seriously so fun! And I’m not just saying that because I won three times. You basically answer random questions about everyone in the game and get to vote on who had the best answer. Ex: “What is Kim most likely to get arrested for?” This is the perfect game to play with a few friends during a virtual happy hour. When you look for it in the app store, it looks like Ellen’s ‘Heads-Up’ game.
I want to end this blog post by mentioning that a virtual work event that I worked really hard on (and lost so much sleep over) went really well on Thursday. I have been so stressed out and working some crazy hours to ensure this virtual event went well and it did! I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am thrilled with how well it went. Of course, the hard work doesn’t stop now, but I just wanted to share how happy I am that 1. the event is over and 2. it went super, super well.
What are some of the little joys you’ve been feeling lately? Comment below! I’d love to hear about it.
