I think we’ve already been over how one of my favorite hobbies is recreating Taylor Swift outfits. I’ve been thinking of the best way for me to kind of ‘group’ the outfits that I do and I’ve decided to do it by era. And I have such fond memories of the reputation era (and yes, reputation is not capitalized). I had so much fun recreating these looks! I actually took these pictures back in April during the beginning of quarantine and just kept forgetting to post them. I’m posting this blog now because two years ago today I was at the reputation Stadium Tour in DC! Such an amazing show. I’m super emotional because I really, really miss it.
Just about everything I’m wearing in this post was thrifted or something I already owned. I will be linking similar options to these outfits below, but I totally recommend you try thrifting some of these pieces on online stores like Poshmark, ThredUp and Mercari like I did. Better for your wallet and environment!
Trends from the reputation Era:
So a lot of the fashion and street style we got from this era was from when Taylor would come and go from her shows for the reputation stadium tour. There was that glorious week in July of 2018 when we got a bunch of candids in a row of Taylor leaving her apartment. For the 1989 era she wore a ton of giant stiletto heels and crop top sets. For the rep era, I think Taylor showed us a more laid back and comfortable style. Definitely not as girlie and much more edgy. I’m all for it! The reputation era was dark and twisty and I think Taylor captured that theme pretty well with her clothes, despite the fact that she is normally very girlie and romantic. You can check out more outfits that Taylor wore during the reputation era by going to Taylor Swift Style (one of my favorite sites!)
Also, let me know how impressed you are with this makeshift newspaper wall. It took forever to put up and it’s super messy, but I think it works for all intensive purposes.
Outfit 1:
Fun fact: a fan gave Taylor this shirt back in like…2011 I think. She cut hers to make it a crop top which is very 1989 era of her. This girl sure loves her cat merch. Taylor wore this outfit leaving her NYC apartment in 2018. I found this ‘mountain of kittens’ t-shirt at Walmart and actually sent it to my friend Peyton after I took these pictures because I thought she would appreciate it more than I do. (Confession: I’m not a cat person) These shorts are from Poshmark (I’ve been looking for high waisted shorts that don’t squeeze me too much). I did actually find the exact pair of shoes Taylor is wearing on Poshmark…but they were like $50 and I just didn’t want to pay that for a few pictures. I got the sunglasses from Target and also wore them in this post.

Outfit 2:
Camo was a such a huge theme for the rep era and this outfit also resembles one of the looks Taylor sported at one of the reputation Secret Sessions. She wore this outfit leaving her NYC apartment and I feel like this look doesn’t get enough love when we think of reputation street style. The boots she wears are monster and she’s also wearing her J initial necklace which makes my heart sing. This outfit was super comfortable…except for the boots. I bought these joggers a few years ago and while they aren’t really my style anymore, I’m glad this post gave them new life.

Normally I wouldn’t mesh two different colored denims together, but here we are. I think Taylor wore this outfit to the recording studio (remember a time when we had no idea she was planning Lover??) Definitely a great summer look and much more grunge than I’m used to seeing from her. I’m glad she brought back the red lipstick for this too. These sunglasses I’m wearing were a gift and the shorts are the same I wore in outfit #1 that I got from Poshmark. The shirt was $7 from ThredUp and I wore these shoes on my trip to China.

Outfit 4:
I’m surprised how much I actually like this outfit. I used to never wear yellow, but now it’s one of my favorite colors to wear. And Taylor looks great in yellow too. I think Taylor wore this outfit on one of the first nights of the reputation Stadium Tour. I’ve seen a few backstage/rep room photos of Taylor in this outfit so shoutout to anyone who got to meet Taylor when looked like this. I would totally wear this outfit but probably not during the summer. I already owned the skirt and boots and found this distressed flannel on ThredUp for like $9.

This is probably my favorite outfit in the bunch, and I didn’t have to buy anything! I found this shirt in my brother’s closet and just tucked it into my bra for a cropping effect. These shorts are like 4 years old and I can barely walk in the boots but they certainly serve their purpose for pics.
This outfit also appears in Taylor’s documentary Miss Americana in the scene where she talks about her past eating disorder and how f*cking impossible it is to keep up with beauty standards. So I as much as I love this outfit, seeing it gives me mixed feelings because of what she said in that video clip. I am so proud of her for speaking on her struggles and it breaks my heart to know that for years while I grew up with her she was dealing with an eating disorder. So with that being said, I just want to drop this link for NEDA in case you or someone you know needs help fighting an eating disorder.

This outfit is actually what sparked me to make this blog post. So I saved the best for last! My friends Autumn, Seth and Cori pitched in to buy me this outfit for my birthday so I could recreate it! Probably one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever gotten. And I absolutely geeked when I saw Taylor in this outfit back in 2018. (I thought MermaidSwift made another edit, but it’s real!) She looks so good in this outfit and I would wear my version any day. The dress is from Boohoo and the sunglasses are from Amazon. Autumn and I think the boots are from Go Jane or Boohoo, but my birthday was in September so neither one of us really remember. But I do want to note these boots are so comfortable and they don’t slide down my knee at all when I walk.

Hope you liked these! Which look is your favorite? I’ve already shot other era candids and am planning on doing more, so let me know in the comments which one you would like to see next!
