I finally gave Glossier products a try. For years I’ve wanted to try these products because I’ve always been a fan of the minimalist make-up look for myself. It could also stem from just laziness when it came to make-up, but who knows? I wasn’t sure how I would like the ‘dewey’ make-up look which is definitely the vibe for most of Glossier’s products. But I figured it was worth a shot. Some of these products definitely lived up to the hype, but others…not so much. Here is my review on 6 Glossier products I recently purchased.
- Cloud Paint: I usually do powdered blush, so this is my first experience with a liquid blush. I don’t really have a strong opinion on which consistency I like better, but I do wish I had gotten a more subtle pink color instead of ‘beam’, which is peach. It came across as too orange-y on my face compared to my foundation. Definitely not that rosey look I usually go for so I don’t know what I was thinking! Next time I will probably go for the shade ‘puff’ or ‘haze’ because I think cooler shades of pink compliment my skin tone better.
- Boy Brow: Totally worth the hype! I was on the fence on whether to get blond or brown, but I ended up getting the latter. I haven’t gotten my eyebrows waxed since mid-March so this brow brush and gel are really saving the look of my brows lately. I honestly am kicking myself for not buying this earlier. It is so much easier to tame the furry caterpillars on my face now.
- Wowder: I thought powder didn’t go with the whole ‘dewey make-up look’ that Glossier portrays, but this my second favorite product I got. I definitely prefer powder foundation over liquid, especially in the summer. I use this ‘wowder’ when I need some light coverage if my skin is really red, since it’s not super overpowering or thick when you apply it. I got light-medium G08-G10 and it blends pretty nicely even when I have a little bit of a tan.
- Lidstar: I really like the color I chose for this one, which is ‘slip’. I usually go for a soft pink when I’m using everyday eyeshadow. Applying this is super convenient and you don’t need to apply a lot for the color to show. I’m definitely considering buying more shades.
- Balm Dotcom: I got the coconut flavor and it smells great! It’s untinted, so I use it as just a casual lip balm. But only at home! I apply a little to my finger and rub it on my lips, but I’m not about to do that in public with a ~pandemic~ going on so this is going to be my ‘at-home’ lip balm. It makes my lips look glossy which goes with the whole dewey vibe.
- Haloscope: These days nature is my highlight (since I sweat so much) so I felt like wearing this highlight is a bit much. But I did try it! I got the ‘topaz’ shade and again, I should have gone for a shade less-warm. It goes on really easily which I like but next time I would get the ‘moonstone’ shade.
Overall: I think I was already implementing the ‘minimalist’ make-up routine before I bought these products. These products are very dewey (which is kind of the whole point) which doesn’t really work for my skin type. Especially in the summer when I’m literally sweating all the time! I will definitely be buying the boy brow and lidstar again, but not I’m not 100% sold on the other products. At the end of the day, I prefer a more matte look on my face and I don’t think the majority of Glossier products are for me.
Next up: However, I would like to try some of the skincare products Glossier offers when I run out of the products I already have. And looking at the rest of Glossier’s make-up, I would also love to try their eyeliner and lipstick next.
