I would have been at Loverfest West last weekend, and Loverfest East this weekend. How upsetting is that?! If it weren’t for this global pandemic thing, I would be having the time of my life screaming my lungs out to ‘Cruel Summer’. But alas, that is not happening. Honestly, I’m a little doubtful it will happen next year too. But even though it’s not happening this year, I still wanted to share this post. I’ll probably end up redoing this blog when/if Loverfest actually happens next year, but I guess as a tribute to what would have been an amazing show, here are so outfit options to give you inspiration for when these shows actually happen.
It was hard for me to make this post because I’m trying really hard to be a more conscious consumer. Like with most of my posts, I recommend thrifting clothes second-hand and buying from small businesses. For this post, I tried to stay away from fast-fashion brands but it’s definitely not perfect.
Hard and fast rules of Taylor concert attire: Taylor concerts are usually so hot, so less is more. You will be dancing and jumping around a lot so wear comfortable shoes. People will literally dress in the most outrageous costumes, so you literally can’t go wrong with whatever you pick. Here’s an old blog post of Lover Era clothes from last year!
Lover Era Outfits:
So I was totally planning on wearing one or two of the outfits above for Loverfest. You probably already know that I like recreating Taylor’s looks for my blog, so it was really a no brainer that I would wear one of these outfits. From left to right, I recreated a look from Taylor’s ME! music video, a look from her You Need To Calm Down music video, the outfit she wore when she performed on GMA, and her VMA’s performance outfit. If recreating one of Taylor’s outfits is the route you want to take I recommend:
- Seeing what you already own and figuring out how to make it work
- Borrowing something from a friend
- Thrifting what you are looking for
- Try doing a DIY before purchasing something really expensive
Here is the link to my ME! outfit and here is the link for my YNTCD outfits. I wore the gold bodysuit for my 24th birthday and thrifted the shorts from ThredUp. I thrifted the entire GMA outfit from ThredUp and Poshmark too. I was planning on wearing these two outfits for sure to Loverfest but I’ve also been wearing them in TikToks (because I always strive to get as many uses as I can out of my costumes).
Dressing up a T-shirt:
Thinking back on the reputation stadium tour, so many girls were wearing old Taylor tour shirts. You really just can’t go wrong! This is one of the most comfortable ways to dress up for a Taylor concert and probably the cheapest. Pair one of these tees with jean cut-offs, a sequin skirt or even biker shorts. The possibilities are endless. I’m lucky that I have a bunch of her old tour t-shirts from years ago but here’s an FYI: I usually find people sellinh old Taylor Swift t-shirts on Mercari and Poshmark.
Sequins & Glitter
Without a doubt, the most fun thing you can wear to a Taylor Swift concert is a lot of sequins and glitter. You can basically dress up like a discoball and you’ll blend right in. When I wore this sequin dress to the reputation stadium tour, I got so many compliments. Someone asked me if it was a Free People dress and I said, “no it’s Amazon!” I don’t really shop at Amazon anymore, but this dress was such a hit. Taylor is known for her shimmery outfits on stage, so why not match that energy in the crowd? I feel like it’s rare to wear a lot of sequins out, unless its NYE, but I highly recommend it for a Taylor concert.
Hearts & Stuff
I can’t stress this enough that you should not wear a sweater to a summer Taylor Swift concert, so please disregard the picture above. This picture is from a post I made in February. I’m just trying to make these pictures relevant. But if it wasn’t obvious enough, you could basically get away with wearing anything with a heart on it to Loverfest. It is LOVErfest after all, so here are some cute heart pieces I found (and a few random fruits thrown in there because why not?)
Tie-dye:
Not only is tie-dye super in style right now, but the background of the Lover album reminds me so much of tie-dye. So you would be on brand! Tie-dye is also a cheap and easy way to DIY your own concert outfit (like how we would all use Sharpie and Puffy-paint on t-shirts for the Fearless and Speak Now tour.) Here are a few tie-dye options you can purchase, but I think making your own would be much more cost efficient and more fun.
Rainbows:
Taylor has always been an advocate for LGBTQ rights, but it become more apparent recently when came out with “You Need To Calm Down” and started petitioning for the Equality Act to be passed in Congress. If Loverfest was happening this year, I would expect a ton of gay pride and rainbow attire which would be amazing!!! I bought the shirt I am wearing in the picture above for Pride Month this year but it’s not the best for a Taylor concert. Below are some better options:
So above I included a bunch of affiliate links (which I may get compensation for if you click or buy from those links, with no extra cost to you) but I am striving to highlight more small businesses and Black-owned businesses. So here are some other brands and stores to check out that I think encompass the Lover vibe really well:
- Lirika Matoshi (so so SO dreamy)
- St. Cole (lots of tie-dye and a BOB)
- Zelie for She (I love this dress!)
- Humans Before Handles (so many fun earrings and a BOB)
- Holiday the Label (super cute dresses)
- Lisa Says Gah (so many fun pieces)
Let me know in the comments if you were going to go to Loverfest this year!
Thanks for reading! xx
