It’s finally here! I have seen so many posts on my feeds about the infamous Nordstrom sale. I have gone back and forth trying to decide if I should make a post or not. I definitely feel like this sale can get overhyped, but I’ve bought from this annual sale in the past and have really loved what I got. So rather than tell you what I am planning on buying this year (if I do decide to) I made this blog post of things in the Nordstrom sale that I have and think are totally worth it.
Okay… let’s talk about the sale and how I feel about it. These days I am striving to purchase items with an emphasis on quality and with a more ethical backstory. I would much rather spend more on something if I know it will last longer. I’m talking boots, jackets, jeans, etc. And there are definitely items that are worth the splurge when the quality is unmatched. I am always looking for high-quality and universal basics and necessities that I can wear for several years. So the Nordstrom sale is good for that!
But at the same time, I also love thrifting. I know the fashion world can be super wasteful, so it makes me happy when I can purchase something second-hand (it’s also usually cheaper!). I love finding unique pieces and seasonal pieces that are a little worn but have a lot of character. Not to mention, I’m usually pretty good at finding dups of expensive, brand name items on online stores like ThredUp and Poshmark. The things that come to mind include dresses, tops, and more ‘trendy’ pieces that may go out of style in a few years. I also love supporting small businesses when I shop for clothes, jewelry and home items. So those instances are when I don’t think you absolutely need to buy from the Nordstrom sale. Yes, there are a lot of quality and name brands in this sale, but unless you’re really seeking out something super specific or something that you want to trust will last you several years, you can pass this sale and find something similar while thrifting or shopping a small business.
This is not a ‘must do’ sale. I’ve seen from some of my favorite bloggers on Instagram and Twitter that say things are selling out super fast so I can’t even be sure the 10 items I’m including in this post will still be available by the time you read it. But while I have your attention, here are 10 things I’ve bought from the Nordstrom sale in the past that I am happy I still own.
These Zella leggings are one of my favorite purchases. They are so high quality, don’t rip ever and are so soft. I also bought these Spanx last year and they have been such a lifesaver for weddings and tight dresses. I also bought this skirt last year, which is great for the transition from summer to fall.
I love my Barefoot Dreams sweater so much and I bought this Thread and Supply fleece a few years ago. Since I’ll be working from home for the foreseeable future, these are going to continue to get so much use this fall.
The one beauty product I’m putting on this is the St. Tropez tanning mousse because it is a great investment. When my friend was teaching me to self-tan a few years ago, she raved about how St. Tropez doesn’t contain as many toxins as other self-tanners. I’m already losing my real summer tan, so if you’re like me, grab this while you can.
I had a pair of UGG slippers for like 9 years and finally just threw them away. The quality is amazing and totally worth the investment! These are best running shoes (for my body and foot-arch) and I think the black is super chic. I have had these Sperry duck boots for years and while I think they’re better for rain over snow, I even took them abroad with me. I also bought a nice winter coat last year during the Nordstrom and this one is similar.
Hope this helps when you’re shopping! Let me know in the comments if you’re planning on buying anything from the Nordstrom sale.
