It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of my favorite things, and considering it’s the end of the summer (kind of) I wanted to share some foods I’ve been loving, what I’ve recently purchased/businesses I support, things I can’t stop listening to and so on. I will make other posts on the books I’ve read, shows I’ve watched, and my recent thrift finds, so be on the look out for those!
Food:
Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew is back at Starbucks which is both great for me and awful for my wallet because I love start every morning with one. I took one sip the other day and it’s like my entire mindset turned to fall. I saw a TikTok for Nutella French Toast Rolls, so I’ve been making them 3x a week. They are so yummy and really easy to make in the morning before work. I’ve also been going a little crazy with Everything Bagels and adding radishes, cucumbers, avocado, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cream cheese and more to them. There is clearly a lot going on there. I DIY’ed my own salsa the other day with what I got from my Hungry Harvest box and it was surprisingly good! I’ve also been frying chicken (I’m getting better at it) for lunches with my parents. I’ve been following this recipe and it’s always a hit.
Beauty:
My skincare and nightly self care routine have really fallen off in recent weeks. It’s mainly from laziness but I have tried a few new products this summer that I am a fan of as of late:
- The Ordinary Caffeine Serum
- Tula Face Cleanser
- Kristin Ess Shampoo & Conditioner
Music:
Obviously I have been listening to folklore on repeat in the car, during work and anytime I take the dog for a walk. As you can see from the picture above, my brother and his boyfriend Michael were kind enough to get me a signed folklore cd from The Sound Garden in Baltimore! MY FIRST TAYLOR AUTOGRAPH! During the rare moments when I am not listening to folklore, I have been rediscovering my love for 1989 and reputation. I also just discovered Yours Truly from a random playlist on Spotify and I’m already a huge fan. They make my favorite kind of music for when I’m running and need something fast paced and upbeat. I guess I’m more of a pop-punk person than I give myself credit for. They were supposed to open for the Sad Summer Fest, so I’m even more bummed that concerts aren’t a thing right now.
Fitness:
I have really been slacking when it comes to my fitness goals. I’m thinking about doing the 75hard challenge but my birthday is coming up and I like cake too much. I’m trying to train to be able to run 13 miles by late October, but it has been raining a ton here in Maryland so I haven’t really started. I keep getting emails from OrangeTheory to come back, but the truth is that I’m not comfortable with being in that tight a space with so people I don’t know heavy breathing around me. So while I’m overall slacking in the fitness department right now, I did recently discover some dance videos on Youtube that are so fun to do! This is my current favorite video to do right before I shower and go to bed. I have also been loving these high neck Girlfriend Collective Sports bras.
Shopping:
I’ve been going a little crazy on the thrifting side of things. I found lots of great finds on ThredUp and Poshmark that I’ll probably share in a Thrifting Round-Up post. Other than thrifting, I’ve been supporting a bunch of small businesses like Jane Dottie Vintage (check out these bows), Sweet Elizabeth Jane (so great for finding gifts for friends!) and Evil Queen candles (they just restocked their fall candles!). I am proud to announce I did not buy from the Nordstrom Sale, but I think I made up for that by buying a ton of merch from Taylor Swift’s website (oops).
Random:
I’ve been up to a lot of really random things, that I’m basically just going to list out here. I am selling a bunch of my clothes on my Poshmark. My mom is teaching me how to crochet, but I’m not really good at it yet. Together, my mom and I also upcycled one of my old dresses (see above) which I have always wanted to do! This may be a weird thing to celebrate, but I am now down to washing my hair only 1-2 times a week. I’ve been sending my friends some handwritten letters and water color art just because! I think my love language is writing notes. And finally, I’m currently looking for a new therapist but haven’t had any lucky recently. Will keep you updated on all of that!
