“Did I have a crush on the Grinch? Well of course not.”
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Kimberkopy and last year’s Martha May Whovier costume was one of my favorites I’ve done! The Jim Carey version of The Grinch is my absolute favorite Christmas movie. I have probably watched it 25 times since Halloween and can quote the entire thing. I love the the detail of the sets, the sneaky adult humor and the costumes. THE COSTUMES! Christine Baranski serves so many looks in this movie and I love recreating them. Hope you like this one!
Here is the scene from the movie that inspired this outfit
I am very proud of myself for this outfit, mainly because I only had to buy two things. I bought the red tube top secondhand from thredUP and I bought the little presents in my hair from Amazon. I rented the necklace from Rent the Runway and same with this skirt that is actually a dress. I just rolled the top down. I was thinking about buying a giant green tutu for this recreation, but I knew I would only wear it once. So I looked up other options. Since I have a monthly membership to RTR, I looked up long green gowns and skirts and thought this one would be great. And I was right! The green sequin belt is fabric from this post. The gloves are from my infamous yearly Cruella costumes.
I really wasn’t sure how to get my hair like Martha’s in this scene. As long as my hair is, it’s pretty thing so I had like no volume. I tried making a big top knot and then mess it up a bit. I slid tiny presents into the loops of my hair. Not as tall as Martha’s hair-do but I think you get the picture.
