Hi! It’s been a while. Like over a month I think…? I think it’s time for a life update then. I didn’t expect to take such a long break with blogging in the last few weeks. But life comes at you FAST. So I wanted to make this quick blog post to explain what I’ve been up to and where I’ve been.
What I’ve Been Up To:
I just got back from dog sitting for an extended amount of time. If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed I wasn’t living with my parents from early February to mid March. I was watching my friend/coworker’s house and dog while she visited her mom for a weeks. She extended her trip so I was away from home for a whopping 36 days. That’s the longest I’ve ever dog-sat for anyone, but I loved it. BB, her dog, is the best and I love the way she decorates her house. I ended up staying some that extra because I was sick (which we will get into in a second). But it is always a joy to hang out with my girl BB and get a feel for living on my own.
I got an IUD a few weeks ago. This is a long time coming! I’d like to make a formal blog post about my experience and why I decided to go from the pill to an IUD, but I also wanted to mention that here. I did almost pass out during the insertion but so far so good. I did not have any bad cramping, but I’ve had a super heavy period for like a month now. So that’s not fun but apparently that goes away.
I had COVID…womp womp. My friend Allison described it best- it feels like I lost a game of tag. I have fully recovered now (thank goodness) but I was so incredibly sick for like 10 days. I think the last time I felt that awful was right after I had my jaw surgey (and that was after my body went through major trauma). Fever, chills, aches, coughing, congestion, loss of taste and smell…the whole thing. I slept so much, drank so much hot lemon+ginger tea, took garlic and honey shots, a ton of vitamins, Tylenol, Motrin, Muscinex… if anyone needs some advice on how to tackle COVID, HMU. I like to think I’m a tough person, but COVID knocked me right on my ass. I’m very thankful to have fully recovered but it was a rough week. I’m planning on getting a test soon to confirm I have the antibodies. And I am still hoping to get a vaccination in a few weeks when I am eligible.
Work has been crazy in the last few weeks. I took some time off because I was sick, so after I came back I had so much to catch up on. We’ve had two virtual events in the last week and I have basically been producing and organizing them. This is the main reason I haven’t been blogging lately. Since my 9-5 job actually pays the bills, this passion project of mine tends to fall off sometimes when there is a lot going on in the corporate world. But I’m hoping after this life update is posted, I can hop back into regular posts (I have a lot of ideas in the works).
What’s Been Keeping Me Entertained:
Books: I’m doing the “tis the damn readathon” this month with my friend Ashley, so I have been trying to read a lot. Maybe that is also why I haven’t been blogging lately… But the truth is that reading a book before bed after a stressful day of work or having COVID is a lot more relaxing than pushing out content. Since February I have read:
- The Hating Game
- My Cousin Rachel
- Red, White and Royal Blue
- The Silent Patient
- The Last Mrs. Parrish
- The Proposal
- Beach Read
- It Ends With Us
Add me on GoodReads! I think you just need to search “Kim Moseman”. I also just started “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and need to get a jump on my next book club book “The Guest List”. I think I have an issue with reading too many books at once.
TV: In the last few weeks I finished The Good Place (and cried my eyes out), Wandavision (it was amazing) and started Peaky Blinders. I’m also almost done New Girl (first time watching it!). I did also watchWhile I was sick I just watched Friends on my friends HBO Max because I needed a comfort show/ background noise while I slept.
Movies: Speaking of comfort shows… it turns out that my comfort movies are Oceans 11, Oceans 8 and John Mulaney Comedy Specials. Because when I wasn’t watching the TV shows above, I would just put those on repeat for hours and hours. If you have any movie recommendations for me, leave them in the comments!
Music: Obviously I’ve been listening to pretty much only Taylor Swift. I’ve rediscovered Lover in recent weeks (still slaps), folklore is now the Album of the Year (are we even surprised) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will be released before we even know it. I’m working on a blog post now about how OVER THE MOON excited I am to listen to all of Taylor’s re-recordings. “Love Story” and “All Over Me” give me so much nostalgia already!
What’s in my shopping cart:
.
So there is a quick life update! Here’s to hoping I can get a few more blogs out before the end of the month. I would love to hear how you’re doing and what you’ve been up to, so feel free to comment below!
Thanks for reading! xx
