I have wanted to throw a Taylor Swift party for YEARS! It only makes sense that I finally have it the first year of living on my own. I asked all of my friends to dress up in iconic Taylor Swift outfits and they all did! I’m so thrilled everyone was a good sport and dressed up. And their costumes look great! I actually supplied quite a few of the outfits you’ll see in this post, but what else are #Kimberkopys for?
Here is a TikTok I made of everyone’s outfits!
This is mainly a photo dump from my party, so I hope you enjoy! (And if you decide to throw a Taylor Swift party, I hope this blog post provides you with some inspiration).
My Outfit:
My mom made my outfit for me- all by herself! I’ve always wanted to recreate the ‘Shake it Off’ outfit Taylor wore during 1989 World Tour. The fringe two-piece looked so fun and Taylor wore pink during my DC show… so I wanted it to be pink. And since my hair is currently short, I know I wanted to wear a 1989 era outfit to my party. This made the most sense to me, but it was not an easy adventure (mainly for my mom).
I thrifted this tank from a local secondhand store in my hometown and I thrifted these shorts from Poshmark. My mom cropped both the top and shorts so they would fit me better (but she wasn’t going to make either too short, in typical mom-fashion). I order two different types of fringe from Etsy (listed here and here). We kept needing more fringe so if you decide to make this outfit yourself, BUY TWICE AS MUCH AS YOU THINK YOU NEED! Looking at the picture above, this was definitely a far off vision. But I was confident my mom could help me and she HASHTAG DID THAT.
I think this outfit turned out AMAZING! Since I no longer live at home, I sort of just left it all up to my mom and her sewing machine, and she killed it! She was sending me picture updates and I was so thrilled to see the final product. If you see my mom around, be sure to tell her how talented she is with a sewing machine. I am so impressed with her skill and am so obsessed with this outfit. Thanks mom- you’re the best!
Here’s the side by side of my outfit compared to Taylor’s (I think hers was by Jessica Jones). My shoes are from Betsy Johnson and I wore this birthday headband in this post. Taylor Swift wore one similar during her 30th birthday party.
Now Onto the Party Pics!
Kayla was “I Knew You Were Trouble” Taylor (and her hair made this look even more amazing!!!!)
Taylor was “Bad Blood” Taylor (from that one scene with Cara Delevingne) and she killed it… especially since she looks like an assassin.
Emily was “Blank Space” Taylor (and yes you may recognize this outfit from this post).
Both the outfits Allison and Ashley are wearing are mine too! Taylor wore Allison’s dress to her first red carpet in 2006 and Ashley is wearing the ME! dress from the Lover era.
Jaelin was ’22’ Taylor (I love his creativity on that one) and Jesse was ‘reputation magazine Taylor’ WHICH I INSTANTLY RECOGNIZED. I literally have that magazine in my apartment.
Go gulls!
David was “You Belong With Me” Taylor (and it’s funny because Allison made this shirt for the reputation stadium tour.
Go hawks!
Jess was “Wildest Dreams” Taylor and I AM OBSESSED!
Jules was 1989 Tour Taylor (which is fun because I accidentally ran into her during the DC show in 2015).
Alison (and her sister Amanda) recreated reputation street style outfits from this post I did a few years ago!
Go Gulls (and Dukes??)
Hardly got any pics of me and Sarah but I love this one! (and her husband Rafael was ‘John Mayer’ which geeks me)
When It Was Probably 4am When the Rest of These Pics Were Taken:
It’s a running joke between me and my friends that at parties, it’s extremely rare for me to make it to midnight. But by the end of the night as everyone was getting ready to leave, I looked at the clock and it said 4:30am! WILD! But a great testament to the night. We didn’t want the party to end.
I get very ‘huggy’ at the end of the night (especially when surrounded by my favorite people)
Love some good HUJI Cam photos
Overall:
What an amazing birthday! I was high key really nervous to have a party at my small apartment (mainly worried we would be too loud) but everything went great! My neighbors didn’t pound on my door to quiet down and nothing got broken (like every other party I used to throw at my parents house). I am so thankful for every single person in this post for making my birthday so magical. I’m feeling very blessed and loved and what more could you want for your birthday? Thanks to everyone for dressing up and making me feel so special. I was smiling so big in all of these photos and was so happy to have my friends with me.
And to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, thank you and I love you too!
Thanks for reading! xx
