It’s Small Business Saturday, so I wanted to encourage you to shop locally today. I moved to Baltimore in June and have discovered a bunch of really great local shops and businesses that I think have wonderful gifts for anyone on your list. Many of these shops and stores are Black-Owned or POC-Owned too! Check them out below!
I also made a guide for everyone on this list on Instagram!
NauturaLEE by DMD: I am a loyal NaturaLEE customer. I love the chamomile vanilla whipped sugar scrub so much, I use it almost everyday and always restock when I run out. Use coupon code BLK40 for 40% off select items today!
Drama Mama Bookshop: You can purchase handmade and customized journals as well as writing accessories and jewelry. Located in Riverside, anything from this shop would be perfect for your writer or journaling friend.
228 Grant Street Candle Co.: I love the shape of these candles and they are made in Baltimore. I just checked, and J.Crew is a retailer for these candles too! How cool is that? They also offer candle-making workshops!
NoelleRXArt: I’m so glad I found this Etsy shop! This beautiful artwork is made by a Black Artist and celebrates Black culture, love, family and Black beauty. You can also get a customized print done! This portrait is one of my favorites.
B.Willow: Located in Remington, they have a large inventory of indoor houseplants, terrariums, local goods, flowers, and also offer online workshops. One of my best friends, Jesse, got me a locally made pot for my birthday for a small cactus I bought with him while we were checking it out a few months ago. They also have some items listed on their Shopify.
Su&Lou: I am crushing so hard on this shop! I would LOVE to get the BMORE tote bag. There are also a bunch of other BMORE and East Coast specific merchandise that would make a great gift for anyone, especially if they life in Charm City. Use code “THANKFUL21” for 15% all orders today!
GreedyReads: I think buying someone a book as a present is so thoughtful. I try really hard to borrow books from the library or from friends, but when I do buy books, I try to only buy from local indie bookstores. Greedy Reads is really cool and has a location in Fells Point and Remington.
Just Brittle: Specializing in artisan brittle, gourmet popcorn and handcrafted chocolates – female and Black-owned Natasha’s Just Brittle takes pride in using the best ingredients to create the tastiest treats. My mouth is watering just looking at these sweets and treats. You can order online or visit the store front off of Harford Rd.
Presence and Grace: “Design, Paper Goods and Other Delightful Things” is so spot on- all of these items are delightful! If you’re an organizer and a planner like me, Presence and Grace has a ton of notepads, greeting cards, art prints and more! I love this notepad!
Tigerlily Shop Jewelry: Can you get any more ‘Maryland’ then cicada jewelry? This nature jewelry is handmade from mixed metals. Not only are there cicada wing necklaces and earrings, but a bunch of other nature inspired jewelry. I think these items would make great gifts for your mom or your hippie friend who lives in a van (because we all have one of those, right?)
Haus of JBell: I love what they stand for! This shop is strong on mental advocacy and promote healthy conversation regarding suicide prevention. Proceeds from all sales are donated to National Suicide Prevention. All of their products are homemade and natural based. I think one of the bathbombs or lotions would make a great gift or stocking stuffer!
SoundGarden: If you’re going to buy someone a CD, vinyl, or anything to do with music, buy it from your local indie record shop! I just got a signed RED (Taylor’s Version) CD from the SoundGarden! They have such a HUGE collection of records and CDs. If you’ve never been, it’s located in Historic Fells Point and is really fun to check out.
KSM Candle Co: This shop has it all! Pins, leather goods, soy candles, knitted goods and more! I would love to check out the store front near Woodberry and Roosevelt Park. A candle making kit would be so fun for your crafty friends!
TinyDogPress: I love these prints! They are show such a classic view of Baltimore (I love the Domino Sugar Sign) and are so colorful and fun! The letterpress city cards are already in my shopping cart.
MIY Home: I’m not sure furniture is what my blog audience usually shops for, but how could I not mention MIY in this post?! My brother, Johnny, and his partners, Michael and Seth, own and operate MIY (Mine is Yours) Home which sells high-quality furniture. Everything from sleeper sofas to outdoor umbrellas, if you’re in the market to upgrade your home with new furniture, MIY is the place to go!
