I would have loved for this to be a “what I bought” post but unfortunately, my car needs all new tires and new brakes. So it looks like any spring purchases will be put on hold until I can totally pay off this outrageous car bill. If I do end up buying new clothes, I will try to thrift them locally or on thredUP or Poshmark. But for the sake of this blog post, I wanted to share some links you can actually follow to items I have my eye on this spring.
- colorful sneakers: 2024 is the year of wearing comfortable shoes! Check out this post to see what other sneakers I recently bought. I thought I wanted this light blue pair, but then I saw this pink pair… and then there is also this green pair. I would never deem myself a sneaker head, but I just gravitate toward sneakers now. These shoes are selling out so fast, I may go with this pair (also because I think a size 10.5 fits me best).
- tie front peplum tops: Who would have thought peplum would come back in style? I would love one of these Ganni bow front tops in black or a pattern, but I may just go with this white top I found a Macy’s.
- peter pan collar: I love statement collars! I have always been a big button down girl, so I am such a fan of the fun collar trend right now. Since this trend is so popular, I have been having a hard time finding a shirt I love that is my size. I did find these Ganni collars, this top from Nordstorm Rack and this top from Free People.
- boxer shorts: I had purchased a pack of Old Navy mens boxers last summer. I still have them and they still sort of fit, but I would definitely like it better if they were looser in the thighs (thick thighs problem). I have loved this pair from J.Crew since last year. I love the shape of these boxers from Free People but I think I am most likely to get a larger size in these Old Navy boxers and hope that I can bring the waist in.
- leather Boston Birkenstocks: Truth be told: I used to be such a hater when it came to these. I used to wear clogs in middle school and was not sure they matched my current style. However, I think the brown leather birks would go well with jeans and shorts. So they are on my list! I may just buy these cheaper Target faux suede clogs, but my heart is set on the leather.
- striped pants: I’ve always been big into pinstripes, and “boxer pants” are predicted to be a big trend this year. Because I’m 5’9, it’s hard for me to find pants that are long enough so that is why I usually search for pants at stores I know come in “LONG”. I have these Abercrombie striped jeans in my cart and these pants from L.L. Bean.
- colorful wide leg pants: These pink pants from the Gap are so perfect for spring. I am also a fan of these sage green cargo pants. I own a ton of neutral tops so adding a fun pant seems like a more fun way to embrace wide leg pants.
- colorful / BIG sunglasses: Pops of color are the way to go this spring! I have my go-to sunglasses, but they are black and boring! I have my eye on some light brown tortoise shell glasses or red sunglasses or sage green glasses.
- cargo jeans: I hope we never get rid of the baggy jean trend. I wear my loose jeans so often and I love that these light wash jeans have a little more embellishment with the cargo pockets.
- slingback heels: I absolutely love the contrast colors on this pair of slingbacks, but I own two shoes way too similar to it. In the spirit of colorful shoes, I would love to purse this lavender slingback heel (my favorite color!!) or maybe in blue, since I think blue may go with more of my outfits. This pink pair is so fun but maybe I should go with this more neutral pair to replace a pair of cap toe heels I own that are falling apart.
- heart belt: I first decided I wanted one of these when I saw a few of these on Poshmark. Unfortunately, both belts I was looking at were sold out, so I will probably have to buy one. I can’t decide if I like the silver or gold better.
- snapbacks: I am blaming this on my wonderful girlfriend again, but I want to be a hat person. I have a royal blue Baltimore baseball cap that I love, but I think I like a more vintage feel and wider brim. I have my eye on this dump him hat, this striped hat, this ramblin’ woman hat, this good luck hat and this Amarillo hat.
- white sandals: I had a Target brand pair of of white sandals that I wore into the ground and had to throw away last summer in Chicago. This style is definitely knocked-off the original Hermes sandals, but that is WAY out of my price budget. I will either purchase this Sam Edelman pair (I love that they have a wide option) or this Steve Madden pair.
- silver/gold mixed metal earrings: I just know I will probably have to splurge on these! I have a few pairs of gold hoops from my grandmother that I wear all the time. I also love wearing gold necklaces, but I wear a lot of sterling silver rings. I don’t know if I am a gold or a silver girl, so I’ve decided to just be both. But it is important to me that I wear earrings that are sterling silver or real gold, because a cheap pair of earrings turned my ears green the other day (ew). I have my eye on this pair, this pair or this pair.
- cloudies: when I sprained my ankle in January, I borrowed my girlfriend’s crocs to go to Patient First. After I was x-rayed and patched up, my wonderful Aunt B and Uncle Mark helped take care of me. My aunt told me about cloudies and how comfortable they are. I personally love the yellow pair.
- sheer black lace skirt: I love that “sheer skirts” are such a trend right now. I thrifted a cream dress just like this slip a few years ago, but I think I would get more use out of a black one. I also love this one from Nordstrom Rack!
- striped high waisted shorts + matching swimsuit: I absolutely love this royal blue striped set from J.Crew. Obviously, striped shorts are the move this spring + summer, and I love the idea of a bikini that matches the shorts, with a white button down over it. I don’t love that there are no high waisted bottoms in this pattern, but the shorts would be so flattering. Plus, this shade of blue is so vibrant. I also like these striped shorts from FP and these striped shorts from the Gap.
- Lavender Haze top: I am so glad this shirt is back in stock! But that price point is killer (ugh). I will be waiting for a sale, but I would LOVE to add this to my #TSSExact collection.
- red crop top: I love this top. Red is probably my favorite color to wear and I was influenced to check out this top from @biancahenderson on IG. I love the texture and would love to pair this with my red Adidas.
- tombolo button down top: I think I found this brand from an IG ad and I am so glad I did! These shirts are perfect for the summer. I especially love this crab shirt (because MD, obviously). This Urban Outfitters top reminds me of the same vibes from this brand.
- flower tube top: I am OBSESSED with looking like I am wearing an actual flower as a top. If I won the lottery, I wouldn’t say anything… but there would be signs. Like me pulling up to the function in this sequin flower top or this DIVINE beaded top. Free People did release this cheaper top, but my heart may be set on the boujee ones. I would love for this Tyler McGillvary top to be back in stock, but I am doubtful.
