So lately I have been trying out a bunch of work out classes because I recently discovered something awesome about most of them: first class is free! I know so many gyms are allowing people to try them out totally for free, so my mindset is: why not?! I would like to try out as many as I can, but for now I have done a class (or more) at Orange Theory, Pure Barre, Title Boxing and CorePower Yoga. And while 3 of these were awesome…there was one I just wasn’t a fan of.

So something I’ve been really passionate about lately is sustainability and trying to reduce the waste I contribute to the world. One of the first ways I thought of doing so is by not buying traditional shampoo and conditioner bottles. It just seems super wasteful and unnecessary to me to continuously buy bottles, use them for a few weeks and then toss them away. So I did a little research a few months back about shampoo bars! I was skeptical at first but they have really grown on me and I think you should give it a try!

Major TMI alert. Like wayyyy too much information alert. Like so much information that if you’re a boy or just really not interested in ever trying a menstrual cup, then this post isn’t for you! SO DON’T READ IT! I go into a lot of detail in this post because I want to answer any of the questions you might have if you want to try a menstrual cup, but are nervous to try it. I was nervous too and I did a bunch of research beforehand. I was literally telling all of my friends about this when I was trying it so I know I’m not the only one who has considered a menstrual cup. This can be really awkward to talk about but here I am…talking about it. I really don’t think I’ll ever go back to just using tampons, but using a menstrual cup was not all fun and daisies (but is a period ever?)

This month… has completely exhausted me. I have known since January that I was going to run my second half marathon at the end of April, but what I hadn’t planned on then was that I would also be running a total of 26.2 miles this month at Orange Theory. I thought this month would be easy and carefree… but ugh was I wrong. Here’s how this month went:

It’s officially April and I’m 4 weeks out from my second half marathon. I think I’m going to do another month of “no fun” just to make sure I’m fueling my body for those 13.1 miles and all the training leading up to it. This past weekend I ran a very slow 8 miles outside because it was beautiful out. I wish I had done a little better on speed, but my training isn’t perfect and I still have time to improve! Lately I’ve been focusing on making sure I am eating properly for training, because last year I definitely was not. I would literally eat like a salad 6 hours before a 10 mile run and then I would wonder “Why am I so tired?” or “Why couldn’t I run as far?” Ugh. I definitely learned my lesson. Diet is one of the most important aspects of training! My biggest thing: Carbs are your friends!

So I’m posting this a little late but I’ve been training for a half-marathon for the past few weeks. I started around the 10 week mark and have been trying to increase my distances a little every week, while also doing other work outs. I’m around 8 weeks out now and can run around 5 miles no problem, but I would like to get up to 10 miles before my race, which is on April 27th. I ran the same half-marathon last April and finished with a time of 2 hrs and 38 minutes. My goal this year is to get under 2 hrs and 30 minutes, so here is my current training schedule.

It’s February 15th and we are officially over the halfway mark of No Fun February. How’s it going y’all? I am so happy that so many of my friends have jumped on board and are participating in one way or another. I get so happy when someone tells me “I went out tonight but I didn’t drink because it’s No Fun Feb” or “I’ve been eating really healthy this month” or “I’ve been saving so much money by not going out for lunch”. Awesome! This month is full of little victories (and a lot of little ways to get through it as best you can). So while I haven’t been perfect this entire month (even though this is my thing) I still wanted to share how I’ve done so far, some road bumps I’ve hit but some things I’m also really proud.
