Taylor Swift Street Style: 1989 Era

The urge to cut my hair into a bob is overwhelming.

On the eve of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) being dropped, I thought it was appropriate to share a project I have been working on since 2020. During quarantine, I made it a game of trying to find items of clothing Taylor Swift has worn (in my size) on secondhand online stores (namely Poshmark, thredUP and Mercari). Finding an exact item online scratches an itch in my brain. I’m like a pirate hunting for treasure. I’ve done this series for almost all of her other eras (click here to check out Fearless, Speak Now, RED, reputation and Lover) so of course I had to do an entire post dedicated to 1989. I’ve always admired Taylor’s ability to shift into different eras with her clothes and hairstyle. I think her 1989 street style is the most recognizable of her eras and had the most intention and planning behind it (who leaves the gym in 6 inch heels?!) So allow me to transport you back to 2014 & 2015 as we dive into what made her 1989 era so unique and where I found these outfit pieces, incase you feel like recreate some of these looks too.

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ Recreation

Happy almost Halloween! It has certainly been a minute since I’ve done a #Kimberkopy that isn’t about Taylor Swift, but when I saw the music video for Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” song, I knew immediately I wanted to recreate it. Not only is the song a complete banger, I love the story the MV tells. I especially love how I get Twilight vibes from the first section and then the 4th wall is broken and she runs out of the theater. So naturally, I DIY-ed her outfit and took some photos with my tripod out in the yard of one of the houses I petsit for. Enjoy these photos!

Taylor Swift Street Style: Speak Now Era

In honor of Speak Now Taylor’s Version being released, I thought it would be an excellent time to share yet another quarantine project I did way back when in 2020. I wouldn’t say her style is very “iconic” in this era, mainly because I think it bleeds into the Fearless era vibe a bit. I chose a few of these outfits due to their proximity to when I saw Taylor for the first time in Washington D.C. on August 3, 2011 for the Speak Now Tour. That time is really what kicked off my love for her style through her eras. So it felt appropriate to finally bring these photos out since I’ve been listening to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) non-stop since 7/7! Rosemary Clooney ‘White Christmas’ Recreation

As they say in the song…you done me wrong

Merry Christmas everyone! It is time for my annual Christmas #Kimberkopy. In the past few year’s I’ve done Martha May Whovier and Cousin Eddy, but this recreation was a year in the making after my Aunt B texted me an idea last year on Christmas Eve. You can find the text message she sent me below! It’s only been recent that I watched ‘White Christmas’ for the first time and Netflix made that easy. There are probably 4 outfits I would love to recreate from this iconic movie, but for now we will stick with Rosemary Clooney’s “Love You Didn’t Do Right By Me” scene. My aunt told me she sees a resemblance between me and Ms. Clooney (which is a lovely compliment) but I don’t really see it. That being said, I am so proud of how this recreation turned out and I hope you enjoy these photos.

Pink Holly Golightly Costume

Happy Halloween friends! I have saved what I deem as “the best for last” with my final costume for the month. Truth be told, I hardly own any pink (which is why I rented most of this costume) but there is just something about diving headfirst into the pink + feminine vibes on Halloween. After all, Halloween is about getting to put on an outrageous costume and man, do I love to play dress up. I did this other signature Holly Golightly look in 2020 (when I had brown hair) but I have been dying to do this look since I rewatched Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Here is how you can pull together this costume too, and more photos in my chic little apartment. It was truly the perfect setting – all I need is a cat!

Aquamarine Halloween Costume

“Starfish are huge suck ups. But they never lie!”

Who else loved this movie in the 2000s?! I think 11 year old Kim would think I’m so cool right now for this Aquamarine costume. And tbh… I was really digging these turquoise extensions. A few of my friends have gone ‘blue’ before and I’m tempted… but anyway, back to the costume! This nostalgic get-up is perfect for my y2k girlies who are doing something for Halloween in a particularly humid/hot climate. Let’s hear it for the revenge dress! If you don’t know the origin of Princess Diana wearing this dress, you can read more about it here. I really love Princess Diana (check out my other Kimberkopy I did for her here) and have wanted to do this recreation since my mom found this dress in her closet. That’s right, this gorgeous dress is my mom’s! She bought it in the 90’s for a black-tie event she had to go to with my dad. I included a picture of her in it below. Recreating Taylor Swift’s RED Era Candid Outfits

It’s hard to believe we’ve been in the RED (Taylor’s Version) era for almost 10 months. You would think I would have been way more proactive about posting these KimberKopy’s, but here I am (and still eagerly waiting to see what album she’s going to drop next). I am classifying these outfits as part of Taylor’s ~summer~ style for the RED era (because her fall/winter looks are equally as iconic and deserve their own time to shine). Cousin Eddie Recreation: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Merry Christmas! Shitter was full!

Story time! I love making holiday movie recreations for Christmas. For the last two years, I did two looks from Martha May Whovier from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. The Grinch is definitely my favorite Christmas movie and I had every intention of doing another outfit recreation from that movie… until the outfit I ordered came in and didn’t fit. Such is life! But with only a few days left before Christmas, I thought to myself “hmmm… what movie could I do instead”? And as it turns out, I already everything I needed to do a Cousin Eddie recreation at my parent’s house. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” happens to be my dad’s favorite Christmas movie and I didn’t have to buy a thing!
