Wow it’s been a minute since I’ve posted one of these. I really took a break from posting ‘need-to-knows’ during the holidays just because I was already putting out a ton of content out. So now we’re back and normally I would do a huge recap of this time since my last ‘need-to-know’ but wow that’s like an entire month and so much happened. So to keep this comeback short, here is a short list of everything I think you need to know:

Maybe it’s not my weekend, but it’s gonna be my year.
I think I’ve been singing those lyrics to myself every NYE since I was 13. Honestly 2020 snuck up on me big time. I’m throwing a Gatsby themed party tomorrow with some friends and I haven’t even gotten everything I need to decorate for it. We’re entering a new decade which is very exciting because I can only imagine all of the exciting things that will happen in my life in the next 10 years, but at the same time, the thought completely overwhelms me. So rather than think super big picture about anything, I’ve decided to make a quick post about the basics of what I really need to enjoy my New Years Eve tomorrow and 3 simple steps I can do in the next few days before I make a precise list of resolutions or goals for the year.

Woah. What a year. Definitely some ups and some downs but that’s pretty typical for any year. Either way, I like to focus on the positives. Below I have listed 10 of my favorite things that happened this year. In no particular order might I add, other than maybe chronologically… But all of these events are highlights of my year.

Looking back on 2019, I was trying to think back on what purchases I’m really glad I made. Some obvious ones in my new laptop and all the trips I took, but then I started thinking of the smaller things. Like things I use super often, things that changed my year for the better and things I use and then literally say to myself “wow, I am so glad I own this!”. So I was able to narrow it down to 10 things, all linked below!

So I’m a little late on the need-to-know just because I’ve been really sick and super busy but I will wanted to give out some quick recaps and some articles I think you need-to-know.

GO CAPS! Y’all…I’m such a big hockey guy now. Kayla’s bachelorette party was so fun! We went to a Washington Capitals hockey game which is one of Kayla’s favorite things to do. Her ‘brideside’ and I bought the tickets and all pitched in for this custom white jersey for her to wear (scroll down to see how we customized it). I also surprised everyone with something Kayla mentioned to me months ago and thought I forgot (I did not). Here is a little photo recap of the game and a fun bachelorette idea if you want to think outside the box!

Fun fact: My best friend of the last 20 years (phew) is getting married! You may remember this post of when I photographed Kayla’s actual engagement (she thought she was just taking blog photos for me) and now her wedding is just around the corner! I have been practicing my Maid of Honor speech every single day when I’m alone in my car (I really just need to write it down). A few weekends ago, I helped throw her a bridal shower and it was so fun! Here are some pictures of the food, the games and the beautiful bride to be!

Ever decide at like 8pm that you want to shoot and write an entire blog post? This was basically me last night when I was sitting in my room rethinking my actual Halloween costume. I usually plan my costumes months in advance, but lately all of my ideas have fallen through. I have a Halloween party on Saturday so I was starting to freak out about what to wear. I’m a little low on cash these days so I was thinking of things I already had in my closet (ignore the fact that I literally have a box in my room labeled ‘costume box’…I could probably make a million posts like this) that I could turn into a pretty cute costume. I did a whole series last year of ’13 Days of Halloween Costumes’ and while I would love for that to inspire you as well, I tried really hard to make these 4 costumes different than any of those from last year. (But still, go check out those posts). If you’re a last minute kind of person or just don’t have a clue what to be for Halloween, I hope you like these 4 costumes!

I am literally smiling so big while looking at these photos. On September 1st, two of my best friends got married and I was lucky enough to be a part of their special day. When I say this is one of the best weekends of my entire life, I want you to know I mean it. I have known Autumn and Seth since my sophomore year of college and I cannot imagine my life without them. I talk to Autumn literally everyday so when she asked me to be in her bridal party I was so excited. We spent the entire Labor Day weekend all about the wedding with a rehearsal dinner, pre-wedding cookout and then the actual wedding day. I have been waiting to post these pictures for over a month so I hope you like them! Details on the dresses, hair, photographer and venue are below!

Oh what a night! From what I remember of it… I had an amazing birthday thanks to the wonderful friends and family in my life. My friends Alison and Allison (yes they have the same name and they live together) allowed me to have this little golden themed pregame at their house in Baltimore and it was so fun! Both of my brothers were able to make it and I loved getting to see so many of my best friends in one place. Here are some snapshots of the night!
