So like two weeks ago, I made a very impromptu decision to fly to Kentucky for a weekend. Why you ask? Because one of my best friends had an extra ticket to see Taylor Swift, and what kind of friend would I be if I let her go alone?! I legit bought my plane ticket 6 days before the concert and didn’t get any sleep that Friday night because 1. I have a hard time saying no to friends who want to go out and 2. because I had to be at the airport at 4am to catch my flight. I spent a total of 36 hours in the wonderful state of Kentucky (never thought I’d ever say that) but we packed so much into a short time and it had to be one of my favorite weekends ever.
My First Cruise!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I went on a post-graduation, pre-working-for-the-rest-of-my-life cruise with my best friend Taylor. You know Taylor from this blog. This was the first time either of us have been on a cruise and it was such a cool adventure! We were on the Carnival Conquest. We got mega sunburned on the first day, took so many naps, got a bunch of drinks and had the absolute best food the entire time. We spent 5 days on the ship total and went to Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. I’m so happy I was able to do this right before I started my full time job and work up a nice tan. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but it was definitely an adventure! Here is a giant photo diary of my trip!
Adventures in Ireland
Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day! I’m going to Ocean City with a bunch of friends to kick off my Spring Break with a St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl! I’m not Irish, but I did go to Ireland this past January for a few days so for the first time ever I am really excited to celebrate this holiday. I thought today would be a great time to post about my adventures in Ireland, to get in the St. Paddy’s spirit. Enjoy!
Adventures In Scotland
Anyone who follows my Instagram knows I spent a glorious 3 weeks abroad this past January. I went on a Communication Arts Study Abroad Seminar in Edinburgh, Scotland in order to graduate (at least thats what I told my parents). The class focused on the culture and identity of Scotland, as well as the history of this medieval city. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but this trip was absolutely AMAZING! I made a bunch of new friends, a million new memories, a ton of new stories and took an insane amount of pictures. I’ll try to limit some of these pictures so this post isn’t super long, but here is a basic timeline of my trip and some of my favorite pictures I took:
Bloomington Blog: My Weekend With Taylor
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting my best friend Taylor in Bloomington, Indiana for her 22nd birthday. In case you’re wondering, Taylor and I have been friends since middle school and we always try to make a point to visit each other at our schools as often as we can. Taylor and I have been through so much together and have also almost reached a 1000 day snap streak, despite both of us traveling extensively out of the country. She’s the kind of friend that will fly from Indiana to Maryland for a single weekend just to surprise you after you have major jaw surgery. And even though you can’t talk or open you mouth and you’re swollen and ugly, she comforts you and makes you a quality ‘get well soon basket’ and truly lifts your spirits. To this day, that is the most heartfelt anyone has ever done for me and I get teary-eyed every time I think about it. But back to this weekend…
This is my second time visiting her at IU (probably 5th time visiting her at a college in general #transferprobs) but every time I come to Bloomington, I fall in love with it a little more. The weather was grey, cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop me and Tay from walking around and exploring the quant little town. Despite a wild start to the trip that you can read about here, I had such an amazing time with Taylor. We celebrated her birthday by going out to dinner, making cupcakes and going to see the new Fifty Shades movie (because we are trash). She was a real trooper about No Fun Feb and totally put up with me despite being a mess with no phone. We made waffles one morning and watched the Olympics all day. I tried some of her special “Vegan Cheese” and honestly, it was pretty good! This weekend was exactly what I needed to recharge and relax and I am so happy I got to spend some quality time with my bestie. Here are some pictures I took on my camera because I didn’t have my phone.
Traveling Without a Phone: What Happened When My Phone Got Stolen In the Airport
The WILDEST thing happened to me over the weekend. Yes, I got to go to Indiana and see my best friend Taylor for her 22nd birthday, but it was definitely not an easy trek there. Long story-short; I spent 5 extra hours in the ATL airport without a phone because I missed my connecting flight to Indiana and a woman stole my phone in Baltimore. Everything ended up working out (praise GOD) but it was one of those days where anything that could have gone wrong, did. I got my phone back and still had amazing weekend with Taylor (check out this post for details and pictures from my camera) but I spent the entire weekend without a phone and had a bunch of Kim thoughts about that. So here’s the story:Read More >>
Past Travels: Paris, Winter 2017
I leave for Scotland in two days, but I have been working on this past travel post for a few weeks and I wanted to share it before I left. Paris has got to be my absolute favorite place I have ever traveled to. The city is pure magic and I want to go back so badly. Here are a bunch of my favorite pictures I took in Paris last winter when my study abroad class went there for like 4 days. The food was amazing and the sparkling Eiffel Tower is the most mesmerizing thing I have ever seen. This is definitely not every second of my trip, but these are the best pictures from my DSLR. I may make a travel guide later this year, but I would highly recommend going to all of the places I featured in this post.
Teddy Bear Sweater
I am about to share with you the best thing that has ever happened to me: this sweater. Okay I am acting a little dramatic, but I seriously love this sweater that I got on Black Friday from American Eagle. I asked for it in every color for Christmas. I wore it the other day when I was in Bethany Beach, DE watching the sunrise with my friends, Allison and Ashley. It’s so big and warm, which was honestly ideal because the beach in December is chilly. This particular morning was pretty mild and for that I am grateful. This has to be the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen-and I promise I’m not being dramatic when I say that.
Past Travels: London, Winter 2017
Last January I was lucky enough to study abroad with two of my best friends for none other than a photography class. This was, without a doubt, the most amazing trip of my entire life. I went to London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam in just 3 weeks. I am probably going to separate each of those places into its own blog post, so today is all about London. I spent most of my time there and I feel like I truly made the most of it. The point of the trip was to learn about digital photography, so we had several photo assignments that we had to document, edit and turn in at the end of the trip; no wonder I have so many photos to share! My apologies if you find this post to be extremely long. I tried to keep only the best and most important pictures. Sad part is, this is really only the highlight reel. I saw and did a lot while I was over there, but not everything needs to be photographed. Hope you enjoy my photos!
Dixieland Delight
How lucky am I that I get to travel to far away places to visit my friends? I’m currently in Tuscaloosa, Alabama visiting one of my best friends from high school, Kalen. I came to Tuscaloosa about two years ago during my sophomore year winter break, but never for a game. We’re playing Ole Miss this weekend and it is going to be soooo unbelievably fun (keep an eye out for another blog post about game day). I love Alabama’s campus and everyone in the south is really polite. I have been trying to find people who know where my school is, and so far the only people who know are the other travels who made it down for the game. I’ll take it! I may go to a small D3 school in the Northeast, but for the next few days I’m part of the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide Roll.
