2022: My ‘folklore’ Year

Let me start by saying I have never had an original idea in my entire life. I definitely got this idea while on Tiktok. I saw a lot of people are saying 2022 is going to be their ‘reputation’ year. And I love that concept, but I feel like I had my ‘reputation’ year back in 2017. And that was a very bitter and confusing time for me. I correspond that album with pettiness, revenge and finding love… and those are not on my to-do list this year. But to each their own! reputation is one of my favorite albums and absolutely slaps. But I saw another video of a girl saying she was going to have a ‘folklore’ year instead, and that really spoke to me. So I wanted to dive into that and spill some ink on the blog.

So truth be told, I am trying not to buy anything new until I clean out my closet. It’s part of my new years resolution to get rid of 52 items I no longer wear or that no longer fit. Winter Sneaker Guide

Maybe it is because I walk way more these days since I live in a city, but I have been obsessing over comfortable and trendy footwear. Never underestimate a good pair of sneakers. I just got new running shows that I am in love with, but I’m still thinking about buying more sneakers. This pair that I got for my China trip 3 years ago and I usually wear is falling apart. So it’s time for an upgrade!

2022 Goals and Resolutions

You know what I just figured out? 26 times 2 is 52. Riveting, I know. But math has never been my strong suit. You’re probably wondering, why do I care Kim? Well there are 52 weeks in a year. And I am currently 26. And if you’re into doing more math, 52 is divisible by 13, which is Taylor Swift’s favorite number. I am focusing on those three numbers this year. A lot of my goals this year have to do with these numbers. When you think about 52 weeks, it honestly does not seem like a long time. But 2021 felt like it was 10 years long! So who’s to say? All I know is that giving a numerical value to a goal will help you achieve it (so they say). And I really like crossing things off a to-do list. So here are my 2022 resolutions and goals.

Cousin Eddie Recreation: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Merry Christmas! Shitter was full!

Story time! I love making holiday movie recreations for Christmas. For the last two years, I did two looks from Martha May Whovier from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. The Grinch is definitely my favorite Christmas movie and I had every intention of doing another outfit recreation from that movie… until the outfit I ordered came in and didn’t fit. Such is life! But with only a few days left before Christmas, I thought to myself “hmmm… what movie could I do instead”? And as it turns out, I already everything I needed to do a Cousin Eddie recreation at my parent’s house. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” happens to be my dad’s favorite Christmas movie and I didn’t have to buy a thing! My Christmas Decor in My Apartment

I am so proud of my cute little apartment. I got almost all of these decorations for free from my mom! I also DIY-ed a bunch of these decorations so go Kim! For only having moved out 6 months ago, I think the place is really coming along. I’m going to be so sad when I have to take everything down. Good thing is, Taylor Swift said I can leave the Christmas lights up til January.

Sustainable + Aesthetically Pleasing Present Wrapping

So fun fact: I am infamous in my family for being horrible at wrapping presents. But hey!- it’s wrapped isn’t it? You can’t tell what it is…and thats all that matters… right? But last year I got the idea to use some old paper bags to wrap my family’s presents. A few weeks before that, my friend Hannah told me about drying oranges for the holidays and now I am obsessed! I loved being able to use them for my family’s Christmas wrapping. They are so aesthetically pleasing and much more environmentally friendly than buying new wrapping. When I posted the pictures above on my IG last year, my friend Jesse said “this holiday wrapping is the physical embodiment of the album ‘evermore’ and I love that so much! I also love how you probably already have most of these items in your house already. So you won’t have to run out to the store! Here is my take on aesthetically pleasing and sustainable Christmas wrapping.

Burning Red: Red Lipstick Guide

I have always loved a bright red lipstick, especially for the holidays. I own so many bright reds, I almost feel the need to tone it down. But the idea of going for a pink or neutral never sounds as fun as cherry red lipstick. If you agree with me, check out a few shades I personally love (and a few on my wishlist).
