Things I Still Want For My Apartment

So it turns out that once you have a place of your own, you develop a never ending list of items you want to buy, but keep rationalizing why you don’t need them. I have lived in my apartment since June and while I would love certain items in my apartment, I am also aware that I have survived this long without these items, and I can still do without. But a girl can dream. Some of these things are fun! Some of these are not so fun. But they are practical. I do think that all of these items would improve my apartment (and my life) but I need to looking for sales and start convincing myself to actually pull the trigger. What I Want For My 26th Birthday

Okay so yes… my birthday is only a few days away and that is definitely not enough time for any of these things to be ordered. But I still wanted to make this post. Some of these things are pricy and I will probably never own them but birthday wishlists are supposed to be fun! And some of these things are hilarious and outrageous. Jean Jacket in a Sunflower Field

You may remember this post I made a few years ago. Well I have great news- Kayla and I were finally able to find a sunflower field where the sunflowers were alive! This field just happens to be in my hometown, right down the street from both the church I grew up in and my office. This is the second summer these sunflowers have been around and I was so happy to get to see them. I know everyone is ready for fall, but I think September is the perfect transition month and deserves to be celebrated (not just because my birthday is in late September). To me, sunflowers symbolize the end of summer and transition into fall. So taking pictures in this field at golden hour with Kayla was magical. Here is one last ode to summer. Photo Dump: A Week In Colorado

I love Colorado!! During Labor Day weekend, I made the trek out to Colorado to visit one of my best friends, Melissa, and her boyfriend, Jordan (and their cat Yonce). I spent a whole week there and had an absolute blast. Cassie (who lives in Baltimore too) and Kalen (who lives in her van and is constantly on the move) met us there as well for some hiking, drinking and the Jonas Brother’s concert. It was Melissa’s birthday too and we love to celebrate our girl. It was my first time in Denver and Boulder, and I had used the money that was originally for me and Melissa to fly out to LA for Loverfest (RIP) to get out there. Here is a cluttered and messy photo dump of an amazing week. Bad at Badminton

Look-I am (probably) bad at badminton, but I look fantastic in this outfit. All summer I have been dressing like a wealthy tennis mom who lives in the Hamptons and I have been loving it. These outfits are always preppy, classic and comfortable. I love editing my photos to look vintage and retro, which is the vibe of this blog post. I’m hoping it looks like I am playing badminton with some old chaps in Upstate New York during the summer of ’54. Even thoughI took these photos while I was dogsitting a few weeks ago (so say hi to Bailey when she pops up in these pictures). Okay… now that its September 1st, I am ready for fall. Or at least ready to make the transition into fall. It is going to continue to be hot and humid until at least mid-October here in Maryland. Taylor Swift Cape Cod Outfit Recreations

The summer of 2012 when Taylor Swift paraded around with the Kennedys continues to live rent free in my mind. I was obsessed with the outfits she wore then and I’m still obsessed with them now. Last year during lockdown, I started making these series of Taylor Swift Street Style recreations. It is always like a scavenger hunt to try to find pieces close to what Taylor wore during these specific eras. Taylor does such an excellent job of distinguishing eras with her style (although lately I have literally no idea what era we’re currently in). And while I’m trying to create a street style series for each album era, I wanted to do this series of Taylor’s outfits during the summer of 2012 when she was in Cape Cod. This was right before the release of RED. These outfits also reflect my personal style pretty well, (probably because Taylor has influenced my style since I was a teenager) so I had a lot of fun recreating them. I took all of these pictures last summer at my parents’ house, even though I wish I was in Cape Cod.

Full transparency: I really wish I could have posted this sooner in the summer because it looks like everyone is already ready for fall. But I’m getting this out before September even if I have to stay up all night! Even if your brain is jumping right into fall, I hope you find some last minute summer outfit inspo from this post.
