Hi! It’s been a while. Like over a month I think…? I think it’s time for a life update then. I didn’t expect to take such a long break with blogging in the last few weeks. But life comes at you FAST. So I wanted to make this quick blog post to explain what I’ve been up to and where I’ve been.

Ahh the wonders of getting paid to stay in a local Airbnb. Wait no… not actually… but that is definitely how it feels sometimes. In the past year, I have become my local community’s friendly pet-sitter. Whenever someone needs reliable gal like myself to watch their house/cat/dog, they flash a Batman symbol in the sky and I appear. It’s my favorite side hustle! It has been so convenient since I work from home and I love getting to have some time away from my house (sorry Mom, Dad and Oma- still love ya!). I highly recommend house-sitting and pet-sitting to anyone who also works remotely and doesn’t have any pets of their own yet. So here is some of my pet-sitting wisdom and general tips for if you too decide to steal my thunder pet-sit and house-sit!
My 5 Favorite WFH Snacks From Trader Joe’s
I’ve been working from home for almost a year now and it’s honestly so hard for me to remember what life in the brick and mortar office used to be like. Life looks so different now than it did a year ago. But if there is one habit that has not changed since my little brother’s room became my home office, it’s that I am a huge snacker throughout the work day. I mean… what else is there to do when you never leave your house? Trader Joe’s is my favorite grocery store and I won’t rest until I’ve tried every food in there. I always like reading about people’s favorite TJ’s foods, which is what inspired me to make this post. Here are 5 snack foods you should pick up from Trader Joe’s the next time you do a grocery run.

boys only want love if it’s torture, don’t say I didn’t, say I didn’t warn ya…
Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m keeping up with my usual traditions of not having a Valentine and recreating a scene from my favorite music video: Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’. At least I’m consistent. Doing this recreation definitely inspired me to come up with other Kimberkopy ideas, especially with the re-release of Fearless in April (can’t wait!). I think it is so fun doing these recreations. Black Space is my favorite music video Taylor has done and I’m really hoping one day I’ll be able to recreate every single outfit in the video. I mentioned in my post last year how much I want to visit the actual Blank Space mansion and that is still such a dream of mine! Not sure how possible it is because of COVID these days….but I hope you enjoy this recreation and have a lovely Valentine’s Day.
9 Virtual Date Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Happy almost Valentines Day! I will be spending Valentine’s Day by myself with my friends dog (dog-sitting) and Facetiming friends all day while I eat chocolate and drink wine. I’m not super enthused with the dating scene right now (not that I ever have been really) but I’m a pretty creative person when it comes to virtual dating. I know some people have gone back to the in-person dating, but not this gal! Get your COVID germs away from me! It’s hard to actually find someone who wants to date over video calls but I’ve heard stories where it isn’t totally awful. So here are some ideas that I came up with that I don’t want to go to waste that you should totally use if you are having a virtual date night this Valentine’s Day.

blondes have more fun, but brunettes remember it the next day
Bye-bye blonde! A few months ago back in October, I used Overtone conditioner to dye my hair a deep espresso brown. I loved it! I’ve been meaning to do an Overtone review for months now. I took so many fun blog photos with my brunette hair. Do blondes really have more fun? I’m not completely convinced anymore. Here are my Kim Thoughts on using Overtone conditioner and details of my washing out process.

If you’ve hung out on the blog since last year, you’ll know I normally do this thing called “No Fun February”. For the past three years, I have completed my own monthly health and money challenge during February (yes, the shortest month of the year). The concept evolved from a no-spend month one of my best friends, Jesse, did back in college. The objectives of No Fun Feb are to eat healthier, cut back on alcohol, not go out as much and save some money. But this year I decided not to partake and this is why. (TBH, it should be obvious).

I would like to apologize to both Speak Now and folklore because they have both been dethroned as my favorite albums since evermore was released. This album has legit been on repeat since the day it came out. You may remember this post of all of the best lyrics to use as captions on folklore. Since evermore is her sister album, here is the sister post to that one! I often struggle with Instagram captions, so when I’m at a loss I usually just go with lyrics. I may have gone a little overboard with this post, just because there are so many lyrics I have such an appreciation for. And even then, I know I must have missed some lyrics. I decided to organize the lyrics of this album in caption categories that can only be described as: 1. vibing, chilling, good mood, cool things, no complaints 2. feeling moody, a little angsty, going through it, not my best day and 3. rip my fucking heart out why don’t you? my heart is shattered, on my sleeve and I want everyone to know it, the world is ending and the only way I can convey that is through Taylor Swift lyrics. So hopefully those descriptions will help you decide on the best evermore lyrics to post to your Instagram.

roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool
Okay, I have to admit. When I was younger and thought about my twenties…this is not what I pictured. Global pandemic? Still at my parents house? Not a prospect for a relationship in sight? Solid. And to be fair, I know I’m not the only one who’s live expectations have been uprooted because of COVID, but I reserve the right to continue to complain about it. It’s not going to help, but I find this entire thing hilarious because last year I was so excited to enter the 20’s again. As big a Gatsby fan as I am, I wanted champagne filled pools, sparkly dresses and confetti all decade long. But now partying is basically illegal and I can’t hug my friends. And I know we still have 9 more years in this decade but I’m 25 now. Halfway through my twenties! And what do I have to show for it? Just these 1920’s-esque photos I took with Kayla a few days ago. Okay… I can live with that.

my house of stone, your ivy grows…
This is yet another shirt I only bought because Taylor Swift wore it once. But how gorgeous is this Victorian lace top?! Shoutout to Taylor Swift Style for finding this top that Taylor wore for a 2 minute video back in November. I rarely buy clothes new these days (because shopping secondhand is my new go-to) but I am so happy I bought this shirt on sale at Macy’s. It gives off major folklore vibes, is very romantic and a little Victorian. It is also super comfortable which is great for working from home. Here is how I would style this “Walk in the Park” Free People Top.
