Here we are again, back at my annual pre-birthday post. TBH I am having a big birthday brunch tomorrow that I really need to finish setting up (and tonight I’m doing Hot Pot in Falls Church) so time is definitely not on my side right now, but I have ink to spill! It’s crazy how much and how little can change in a year. Please refer back last year’s post, because I really feel like I smashed that one out of the park. I’ve been going back and forth on what to write to try to wrap up 12 months of being 27. And I think what the spilled ink is starting to form is: I just really want to stop comparing current me to past me.

Once upon a time, I thought my top love language was gifts. And not to say I don’t love giving the people I care about something that makes me think of them, or love giving myself a little treat every now and again. But I definitely don’t expect anything from anyone. That being said, I love lists and I love making wishlists of things I will probably buy myself after I use “girl-math” logic to validate my purchases. So you will find this list to be sort of extravagant, but a girl can dream! Here are the 5 items that make up my outrageous birthday list.

I have been meaning to post pictures of my bedroom for so long! Since I’m really the only person who ever sees it, I have really been lacking with decorating when it comes to my bedroom. But recently, my parents helped me move my grandmother’s old vanity into my room, so I could have a place to do my make-up. And with that final addition, I am happy to save that my room is officially decorated. Huzzah! Everything is perfect. I took these photos during a random Saturday so you will probably notice I have a lot of knick-knacks and a lot of clutter. What can I say? I like stuff. So this is truly a very realistic photo selection of my personal space, as I actively live in it. I got the majority of my decorations from antique stores. And that is why I dub this room “grand-millennial”. My Nana would absolutely love the way this room is styled. That grandma-ish blue and white china pattern has always been one of my favorites, and was the biggest influence for decorating this room. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see some links of items (that were not thrifted) and read some not-so-exciting news.

In honor of Speak Now Taylor’s Version being released, I thought it would be an excellent time to share yet another quarantine project I did way back when in 2020. I wouldn’t say her style is very “iconic” in this era, mainly because I think it bleeds into the Fearless era vibe a bit. I chose a few of these outfits due to their proximity to when I saw Taylor for the first time in Washington D.C. on August 3, 2011 for the Speak Now Tour. That time is really what kicked off my love for her style through her eras. So it felt appropriate to finally bring these photos out since I’ve been listening to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) non-stop since 7/7! If you grew up alongside Taylor and ever felt inspired by her outfits, I hope you enjoy this blog post. You can check out my Fearless, RED, Cape Cod, reputation and Lover era recreations too!

Its been a minute since I’ve done a shopping cart list! Perhaps that is because I am trying to curb my summer shopping so I can prepare for student loans to start back up again (ugh), but that won’t stop me from looking! There is not a whole lot in my shopping cart, but here is what I have my eye on.

Third time is the charm! Let’s see how many things I can knock off on this list. I definitely crossed off more items in my first list, but I would like to blame a global pandemic for that one. Now I’m not really sure what will stand in my way this time, but I am hoping I made the majority of these goals attainable. But of course, I always need some “stretch goals”. So much can happen in 1,001 days. I can’t wait to look back on this list in 2026!

Would you look at that?! Another 1,001 days have come and gone. And what did I accomplish? Not a lot on this list! But that is okay. I would love to spill some ink about how I’m feeling about the last 1,001 days.

I did not have this trip on my 2023 Bingo Card! Who would have thought Kim would ever make it to Alaska in her lifetime? I am definitely not what most would consider a “nature girl” but when Allison decided to travel nurse to Alaska for a few months this spring, I just could not pass up the chance to go see her. I spent 8 marvelous days in Alaska, traveling from Anchorage to Fairbanks and everything in between. This trip was definitely a step out fo my comfort zone but it was so rewarding and so fun. Everyone I met was so warm and welcoming, especially the other travel nurses Allison hangs out with. I am so lucky to have been able to go on this trip and so lucky that Allison was willing to host and plan everything. Hope you enjoy these photos (but truthfully, photos don’t do most of these views justice).

Can I just start this blog post by saying, that Autumn is truly the hostess with the mostest. Not only did she secure Eras Tour tickets for us, she and Seth were so wonderful to house me, Cori and Johnny this weekend. Plus, they have a pool now and Bodie is getting so big! I don’t get to see my favorite little fam as often as I would like, but when I do, it’s the best time. This was such a wonderful long weekend and I loved getting to hang out with Autumn’s family too. But most of all, I CANNOT BELIEVE WE GOT TO SEE THE ERAS TOUR!!!! And I get to do this all again in Nashville in May? Sounds fake. What a dream weekend this was. I didn’t take a TON of pictures (I was living in the moment), but here are some random photos and a short recap.

If you couldn’t tell from some previous posts I’ve made, I am trying to be a more conscious consumer. Since 2020, I have made it a personal mission to be more sustainable in my shopping. It was during the pandemic that I really fell in love with shopping on Poshmark and thredUP, to the point where I am now a thredUP ambassador! I have the apps for both of those and spend so much of my time looking up brands and hunting for particular items I want. So on one hand, I am trying to be more ethical and conscious of what I consume and purchase. On the other hand, I am trying to declutter my apartment and closet. I definitely would not consider myself a minimalist (even though my personal style leans that way), so I have been trying to get rid of clothes in my closet that I no longer want. It is an on-going process. I’ve recently researched more about textile waste and want to try to limit my own impact. Did you know that in America, an estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste – equivalent to 85% of all textiles – end up in landfills every year? That’s equivalent to 81.5 pounds (37 kilograms) per person per year.
So if you’re like me and want to both declutter your closet but also be kind to Mother Earth, here are 10 things you can do with clothes you no longer want.
