So because I literally have nothing better to do and I truly love to place dress up, I decided to do the Met Gala Challenge…again. If you haven’t seen my first post, here’s the link. These recreations are made from real clothes that I own and accessories that I already had (it’s that amazing???). And please note: no tinfoil was harmed in the making of these recreations. I had so much fun making these and am pretty proud with how they turned out. Hope you like them!

Think about the place where you first MET me…
So I decided to do the Met Gala challenge! I’m pretty proud of myself for even trying to recreate something for the challenge and we all have to admit that this tinfoil mess does kind of resemble the original Louis Vuitton masterpiece (see below). I honestly just keep laughing to myself whenever I look at the side-by-side, but you get the point right? Regardless of how ‘accurate’ this dress is, I had fun making it and I’m happy I only used what I already had in the house to do it. If you’ve been on my blog before, you already know I really enjoy recreating famous photos and outfits. I got so excited when I saw Vogue and Billy Porter started a #metgalachallenge in place of the Gala that was supposed to happen this Monday. And course I had to participate with a Taylor Swift look.

I have been spending an embarrassing amount of time on TikTok lately. Like I used to be one of those people that swore they would never get on TikTok… and now here I am. I’m not a dancer and I usually use TikTok to show off my recreations, but at the same time, I find myself wasting a ton of time just watching videos. People are so creative! And it is very common for me to stay up late laughing to myself at some dumb TikToks, and be exhausted the next morning for work. But on the bright side, I am learning some new skills, like how to cook new things! TikTok recipes are usually really simple and only require a few ingredients, but you will have to watch the video over and over again, and pause it a lot to capture the directions. But it’s worth it! Here are 5 new recipes I learned from some cool people on TikTok.

Last year, I figured out if I wanted to continue to put out a lot of content, I needed to learn how to do it by myself. And now that I’m stuck in my house without access to a photographer, I’m so glad I did! I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at taking photos of myself, by myself (although I am always thankful for my amazing friends for taking photos of me when I ask). I’ve been chugging out a ton of photos lately for blogs and my Instagram and I’m proud of myself that they’ve all been taken and edited by me and only me. And since I’m sure a lot of content creators may be struggling to take photos without a photographer, I wanted to make this blog post to show that you (yes YOU) can totally do this on your own. You just need the right equipment.

Every hour is happy hour during quarantine, right?
If you’re like me, you’re probably missing going to the bars or happy hour with your friends. And even though my Zoom happy hours are pretty consistent, I’m getting tired of just drinking Whiteclaws and Moscato. So that’s when I started thinking that I should use this time to learn how to make real cocktails (beyond the vodka cran I would probably be drinking if I was at a bar right now). So if you’re going a little stir crazy in quarantine right now and you’re looking to learn a new skill or just waste some time, consider learning to master these 5 classic cocktails.

Happy Earth Everyone! I want to start this blog post off with this article about how our global battle against COVID-19 could also help us fight climate change. It’s definitely a small silver-lining in everything we’re dealing right now, but still some good news to share. I don’t consider myself a total eco-freako (and I use that term with love) but there are a bunch of things that I do on the reg that do help the environment and I want to encourage you to do the same.
But before we get to the post, I want to share one of my best friend’s incredible photo essays for ecofeminist ecotopias. Kalen has worked so freakin’ hard to get her Masters Degree and she’s literally a genius. This body of work is so impressive and it honestly just blows my mind that she brought all of her research and photography together to explain how patriarchal and imperial ideas have oppressed women and controlled and exploited land and natural resources. You can check it out here (trust me, it’s amazing).

Happy Easter! Raise your hand if this is the most bizarre Easter you’ve ever had. My family watched Easter service on Zoom this morning in our pajamas. Then we made breakfast and had a ham dinner of just me, my Oma and my parents. It’s been a really quiet, lovely day, but honestly it doesn’t feel a whole lot like Easter. And that’s okay because nothing really feels normal anymore. But that feeling didn’t stop me from spending time with my family and dressing up like an Easter egg.

This blog post has been in the works since January. I’ve always loved Taylor Swift’s street style, so I want to start a new series here on the blog of recreating some of my favorite looks. First up: The Lover Era. Now compared to other eras, there have not been a ton of candid options for me to pick from. But I still had a lot of fun finding pieces for these four looks. Everything I’m wearing is either rented, thrifted, from a small business, or something I already owned. Details and more pictures are below!

How are you doing? No really….how are you actually doing? I think it’s important for all of us to admit that these are pretty hard times right now, and if at most, you’re just continuing to survive each day, that’s a pretty amazing thing. I’ve been social distancing in my house for the last few weeks and I’m getting a little stir crazy. I’m lucky to be in a house with a yard and a dog and 3 other people, but I am missing my friends, going out, going to the gym and even just going to work. We’re all adjusting to ‘the new normal’ of life and doing everything we can to carry on. So here are a few things that are keeping me sane:

At a time when we’re all social distancing and handling the global pandemic in the best ways we can, I constantly find myself wondering how I would be spending my time if I wasn’t quarantining in my house. And I don’t want to be sad over the ‘what-ifs’ of what we could all be doing if this horrible virus wasn’t spreading, but I think you’d be lying if you said you don’t think about it either. For example, this year I was really looking forward to going to see the cherry blossoms in DC. I rented this dress from Rent the Runway specifically for that reason. But the truth is I’m not going to get all bummed for not being able to go, especially when my neighbors have this beautiful tree outside their house and all I had to do was walk 10 yards away from my house to get these pictures. I’m super happy with how they turned out!
