Trend Alert: Lemons

As I’ve been shopping and on the hunt for sales, I’ve notices a new trend across a bunch of stores that is actually so perfect for spring and summer: lemons! It’s actually kind of crazy how I stumbled upon so many random pieces of clothing related to lemons. Personally, I love the color yellow and I think fruit patterns are really fun and quirky. 5 Weekly Joys: Vo.1

So the past few weeks have been really hard for me. I’ve been working extra hours and not sleeping well just because of stress and anxiety. I’ve been working from home for more than 8 weeks now and I was having some feelings of hopelessness about the whole “reopening of states” and whether things will actually go back to normal soon (if ever). And while I’m trying my best to manage all of that on my own and navigate this “new normal”, I want to share some of the things that have brought me some joy in the midst of all of this chaos. Sweets and Treats To Make At Home

Raise your hand if you’ve made banana bread in the last few weeks! I feel like that was a formal inauguration to fully committing to staying home to help fight COVID-19. I’ve always been a big baker since high school, but the obsession has definitely gotten more severe since my quarantine. And honestly, baking this much makes me miss my brothers because they are usually here to help me eat all of it. Only I don’t think they would be totally crazy with all the things I’m baking now, because I have been trying to throw a healthy edge into everything. Met Gala Challenge: Part 2

So because I literally have nothing better to do and I truly love to place dress up, I decided to do the Met Gala Challenge…again. If you haven’t seen my first post, here’s the link. Met Gala Challenge

Think about the place where you first MET me…

So I decided to do the Met Gala challenge! I’m pretty proud of myself for even trying to recreate something for the challenge and we all have to admit that this tinfoil mess does kind of resemble the original Louis Vuitton masterpiece (see below). I honestly just keep laughing to myself whenever I look at the side-by-side, but you get the point right? Regardless of how ‘accurate’ this dress is, I had fun making it and I’m happy I only used what I already had in the house to do it. If you’ve been on my blog before, you already know I really enjoy recreating famous photos and outfits. I got so excited when I saw Vogue and Billy Porter started a #metgalachallenge in place of the Gala that was supposed to happen this Monday. And course I had to participate with a Taylor Swift look.

Recipes I Learned From TikTok

I have been spending an embarrassing amount of time on TikTok lately. Like I used to be one of those people that swore they would never get on TikTok… and now here I am. I’m not a dancer and I usually use TikTok to show off my recreations, but at the same time, I find myself wasting a ton of time just watching videos. People are so creative! And it is very common for me to stay up late laughing to myself at some dumb TikToks, and be exhausted the next morning for work. But on the bright side, I am learning some new skills, like how to cook new things! TikTok recipes are usually really simple and only require a few ingredients, but you will have to watch the video over and over again, and pause it a lot to capture the directions. But it’s worth it! Last year, I figured out if I wanted to continue to put out a lot of content, I needed to learn how to do it by myself. And now that I’m stuck in my house without access to a photographer, I’m so glad I did! I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at taking photos of myself, by myself (although I am always thankful for my amazing friends for taking photos of me when I ask). 4 Eco-Friendly Changes You Can Do Right Now

Happy Earth Everyone! I want to start this blog post off with this article about how our global battle against COVID-19 could also help us fight climate change. It’s definitely a small silver-lining in everything we’re dealing right now, but still some good news to share. I don’t consider myself a total eco-freako (and I use that term with love) but there are a bunch of things that I do on the reg that do help the environment and I want to encourage you to do the same.

But before we get to the post, I want to share one of my best friend’s incredible photo essays for ecofeminist ecotopias. Kalen has worked so freakin’ hard to get her Masters Degree and she’s literally a genius. This body of work is so impressive and it honestly just blows my mind that she brought all of her research and photography together to explain how patriarchal and imperial ideas have oppressed women and controlled and exploited land and natural resources. Dressed Like An Easter Egg

Happy Easter! Raise your hand if this is the most bizarre Easter you’ve ever had. My family watched Easter service on Zoom this morning in our pajamas. Then we made breakfast and had a ham dinner of just me, my Oma and my parents. It’s been a really quiet, lovely day, but honestly it doesn’t feel a whole lot like Easter. And that’s okay because nothing really feels normal anymore. But that feeling didn’t stop me from spending time with my family and dressing up like an Easter egg.
