This is what I call my “I’m so ready for fall, but I still need to dress for summer” outfit. Because it’s September and it’s chilly in the morning but burning hot by the afternoon, you have to be prepared for anything until it is officially sweater/spooky season. This outfit incorporates so many things i love like these Chanel sling-back knock-offs, this suede skirt that I’ve had for years and polka dots. I was in DC over the weekend with my friends Kalen and Melissa and their roommate Abby and we got brunch at Cava Mezze (soooo many small plates and mimosas for $35) and then passed for a 3 hour nap right after taking some pictures. There were also two women in a car next to where we were taking these who were just geeking over everything we were saying to each other to make each other laugh. I may or may not have sung “tip-toeing in my Jordans”… it’s fine, it’s over and anyway, here are more pics of my outfit.

So what was first going to be a ‘first reactions to Lover’ has now become a ‘first thoughts and current thoughts’ post because I forgot to post this in a timely manner. However, I did jot down my random-ass thoughts of listening to the album for the first time at midnight on August 23rd and I find them absolutely hysterical. Quality stuff here. Since the album has been released I also learned a lot more about these songs and so many of them have grown on me. So here are my first thoughts and current thoughts:

If you know me, you know I always have to wear something on my left wrist. For years in high school I would wear 15+ bracelets all up my arm and over the years that number has slowly decreased to one single watch. But for a hot second there, all of my watches were broken! My wrist felt so naked! So to say that I was excited when JORD watches reached out to me and sent me his beautiful watch is an understatement. Scroll down to see how you can win some moola towards a watch like mine too!
Read More >>Leopard Midi Skirt
Can I be totally honest with you? I absolutely hated the way I looked in this skirt when I tried it on. The word I kept using was ‘bumpy’; I thought my stomach/hip area was too bumpy and I would have to return this, even though I love midi skirts and leopard print! But I still showed my mom this dress and I asked her what she thought and she said “Omg Kim those aren’t bumps, those are curves. Women have curves. If you want to call them bumps then fine but every woman has them.” And she’s so right! I get so caught up in how I think my body is supposed to look in clothes (shouldn’t this be an hourglass figure?) but there is no one way a woman is supposed to look. And bumps are so normal! So while I hope you get outfit inspiration from this post (especially since I think this skirt is perfect for the office and I’ll be wearing it so often this fall) I hope you read this long paragraph and pick up some wisdom and advice from me: embrace your bumps ladies! We’re all in this together and girl you look fabulous.

I am so used to always making goals for myself every December for the new year and every September for the school year. I like new beginnings and excuses to make lists and focus on bettering myself. But since I’m not in school this year and I’ve just been working for the entire summer, nothing is changing. I’m not going back to school, taking classes, living anywhere else. I’m just doing the same stuff I’ve been doing. So it seems redundant to make ‘resolutions’ when there are only 4 months left in the year. But then I was thinking about that quote for F. Scott Fitzgerald that goes:
“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over again.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald
And that may seem a little deep for this blog post but it’s always been one of my favorite quotes. You can literally turn your life around at any minute and I think that you can make little changes every day that can have a big impact. I’m not the best at resolutions but I’m hoping that just by speaking all of these into existence that I will be more accountable. And by thinking about the length of a school year rather than just the next few months makes me feel like I can actually see more positive changes and more time to work on these things. So here are my goals for my not-school year:

I’m starting a new series here on the blog! Every week I’m finding new things that I love and want to share with everybody…but I usually just post it on my Instastory and I feel like it doesn’t really stick. Plus I am just a really big fan of lists. So in an effort to share more of what I’m reading, listening to, buying, doing, etc… I am starting this series of ‘Weekly Need-To-Know’. Will I be able to keep it up every week? Who knows? Stick around to find out. But anyway, here’s all the stuff I’ve been doing this week that I think you need to know:

This has been sitting in my blog drafts for so long and I’m sorry for that! Life gets ahead of me sometimes but I just HAD to post this post this week because AUTUMN AND SETH ARE GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEKEND! I hope you’re ready for an overload of pictures starting on Friday and ending… well probably never. But anyways, I had such an amazing time in Austin, TX last month while celebrating Autumn’s Bachelorette Weekend and here are some photos of what we did! I can’t wait to go back to Austin and I CAN’T WAIT FOR AUTUMN AND SETH TO BE MARRIED!!

You need to calm down… you’re being too loud… I have been waiting to do these recreations since the YNTCD music video came out (which was in JUNE)! It took forever for all of these pieces to come in and I have been so busy lately I haven’t had any time to shoot new photos. So BIG thanks to Allison for taking time out of her Saturday to take these photos of me and then force me to go to Orange Theory after. Something I’m doing slightly different with these posts is adding a part called “Story Behind The Outfit” where I talk about how I got the pieces and any fun facts. Let me know if you like that in the comments!

Lover is officially out! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this album for sooooo long but also this time has flown by. It’s midnight and I’m about to listen to the whole album from iTunes and then I’m getting up at 6:30am to go to Target to get the physical copy and bonus booklets (Taylor Swift’s diaries? Yes, I’ll take ALL OF THEM). I’ll make a post of my first thoughts and ratings for the songs and post them later, but for now I wanted to share some Lover recreation posts I did and some Lover era clothing I found that is all super reasonable. Although I would gladly accept anything from Lirika Matoshi because it is literally perfect for the Lover era, I already know I’m going to throw away all my money this week solely to Taylor Swift. Also, GO LISTEN TO LOVER AND BUY THE ALBUM ON ITUNES!

Where my girls at who are going back to school this week?! I’ve been seeing a bunch of people post about packing up and going back to school and it’s making me feel so old! I’m an adult now ugh that’s so weird! I’ve been out of college for 2 years now and even though that feel’s like a lifetime ago, I still want to share what I’ve learned while I was in college about saving money and how I wish I could still do a bunch of these things but alas, adult world isn’t that easy.
