1 Year at My First Full-Time Job: What I’ve Learned So Far

Happy 1 year anniversary of me officially starting my first ever full-time job! Can you believe it has been 1 full year since I graduated college and actually became a working, productive member of society? I have no idea where the time has gone! In the past year I’ve gone to San Francisco for a work trip, Jamaica for a work retreat, and Cleveland and Boston for two conferences! Thats a lot of traveling for one year of working. In between all of that I have been learning so much about working in an office, what it means to be in the marketing and video industries and life in general! I like to keep details of my job pretty vague on the blog but this is a pretty big milestone for me! So I want to share some of the wisdom I’ve gained over the past year.

2 Years of Blogging: How I Started

This time of year is always full of so many anniversaries for me! It’s been a year since I graduated, a year since my cruise (and almost getting taken), a year since I started my first full time job, 2 years since my surgery and now 2 years since I started this blog! (That was a lot of anniversaries…but you get the point…life comes at you fast.) I always like to celebrate my jaw surgery but I realized the other day that I haven’t actually made a post about when I started my blog! My blog and my jaw surgery really go hand in hand because I made “Kimbermoose” when I was in recovery. I was so bored at the time! And I had wanted to start a blog for years, but never had that amount of free time before. So as a fun little way to celebrate 2 years of my blog, here’s the scoop on how I started and the truth behind a lot of my pictures from my first blog posts. Let’s just say for now, pictures can be very misleading to an actual situation.

Vintage Halter Dress

Happy belated Memorial Day! These pictures are a little late but I do like to enjoy holidays without having to worry about putting out content. I went to Big Cork winery with a bunch of the girls just to drink a lot of wine and eat a lot of cheese. I’m calling this an inspired vintage look because of the hairclip and the cat-eye sunglasses. But the fun part about this outfit is that this dress is actually a second-hand purchase from my coworker. And I am obsessed with it! Autumn’s Bridal Shower

You may already know this, but two of my best friends are getting married in September! I met Autumn and Seth when I was an RA my sophomore year of college and Autumn asked me to be one of her bridesmaids! I am so so so excited and also so honored to be a part of their special day (I also took their engagement pics and they are some of the best pictures I have ever taken ever). Last weekend my fellow bridesmaids and I threw Autumn a bridal shower and I wanted to share some pictures (because these girls did an absolutely fabulous job and we love our girl).

Senior Cookout Throwback

So I just realized that Allison has been keeping these pictures from me! These are from last May during my Senior Cookout, which was days before graduation. I forget why I never posted them, but lately I’ve been feeling super nostalgic about last year and graduating. My friend Hannah and I send each other Snapchat memories every single day and she just moved to California so I am so so so happy I found these pictures. Those last few months of school were some of my favorite memories of college! So in the spirit of senior year and graduating and friends moving away, I’m going to kick off this blog post with the quote “don’t cry because its over, smile because it happened.”

ME! Outfit at the Walters

Words cannot describe how excited I am about this post!!! Ever since I stayed up until midnight to watch the ME! music video on April 26th, I have been obsessed with it, especially the @MoniqueLhuillier ‘Velvet Bodice Appliqué Tulle Cocktail Dress’. But you know I don’t have $5,000 just lying around so I did my best to recreate that gorgeous gown. And I asked my childhood best friend, Kayla to go on a little photo adventure with me to the Walter’s Museum in Baltimore to try to get a similar setting to the music video (check out Kayla’s photography here, she is so amazingly talented). I love recreating Taylor Swift looks (check out my Blank Space shoots here and here) and I literally cannot contain my excitement for the TS7 era (HMU if you want to talk theories because I’ve got TONS). So here is me trying to recreate some of the scenes in the music video. Hope you like them as much as I do!

Jalapeño Lime Margarita

Something I didn’t know I loved until a few month ago: spicy margaritas! It’s so weird to drink something that is both cool and hot at the same time. I first had one while I was traveling in Cleveland a few months ago but now it’s my go-to drink when I get margs with the girls (and I’ve always loved tequila). So I was at Trader Joe’s the other day and I passed these bottles of “Jalapeño Limeade” and thought to myself “OMG…I can totally make my own of those spicy margarita things with this!” So I did and here’s how I did it:

Weekend Trip To Clearwater, Florida

Clearwater, it’s pretty clear that I love you. In celebration of completing Marathon Month at Orange Theory and running my best time ever for a half marathon, I took a quick weekend trip to Clearwater, Florida with Allison. We wanted to take a trip that involved nothing except beach, good food and sunshine. Obviously Florida is the place to go! I had never been to Clearwater but I can honestly say its one of my favorite beaches now. Here is a brief travel guide to what we did!

La Vie En Roses Dress

Ever buy something that just brings you so much joy? That’s how I feel about this dress. I’m pretty sure Lulu’s offered it a few years ago and I’m so glad it’s back! It’s super comfortable and you don’t have to wear a bra with it, which you know I love. I just know I’ll be wearing it all summer. You may be able to tell from these pictures that I’m wearing my old Rainbow flip flops that are literally falling apart. Other shoes would have made this outfit a little more put together, but I was at the beach and lazy and doing a lot of walking. I also got a horrible sunburn on my chest and forehead when I took these so I hope these pictures give you quintessential beachy vibes.

Striped Vici Dress

Does this dress make my sunburn look bad? I sure hope not. This past weekend I took a short trip to Clearwater, Florida to get some much needed rest and sunshine…but I may have overdone it on the sunshine. Regardless, Clearwater is such a great beach town and I had such an amazing time.
