Oh no! I had to switch up the format of the introductory pictures. Hope that doesn’t phase you too much. Today is Day 4 of “13 Posts of Halloween” and honestly I’m pretty proud of these costumes. Memes and Vines are crucial to today’s social climate and I had to pay tribute in some way. I’m not including shopping links for this blog because most of what you need you can get from a craft store. My mindset with these costumes (especially when I showed my mom) is that you either get it or you don’t.
Halloween Striped Top
I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming of “13 Posts of Halloween” to bring you more pictures of me with some pumpKims (yes I am still using that pun). Fun fact: this shirt was an impulse buy 5 feet away from the checkout line in T.J. Maxx. But for $10, I just couldn’t pass it up. I went to the pumpkin patch 10 minutes from my house over the weekend with my childhood best friend, Kayla. She’s an amazing photographer so its no wonder these pictures turned out great, especially with my impulsive buy of a shirt.
Day 3: 13 Days of Halloween Costumes
Happy Day 3 of my 13 Posts of Halloween! I SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS DAY BECAUSE THESE ARE MY PUN COSTUMES! I’m such a sucker for puns. In 4th grade I was actually a “Smartie-Pants”and taped Smarties to my jeans. I was so before my time. So in the spirit of my love of puns, here are 3 pun-tastic costumes.
Day 2: 13 Days of Halloween Costumes
Day 2 of my “13 Posts of Halloween”! I’m a little late to posting today, just because I have been hanging out with my best friend Kayla all day, but I still wanted to share these costumes. Today’s theme is Disney and all of these costumes are actually pretty easy to pull off even if you haven’t been to DisneyWorld in over 15 years (like myself). Hope you like them!
Day 1: 13 Days of Halloween Costumes
I am so excited for the next 13 days! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I’ve been hardcore planning all of these posts for weeks now. First up for my 13 Posts of Halloween: Decades costumes! In this post I provide links and tips for simple and easy Halloween costumes for the 1920s, 1950s, 1970s and 1980s. Hope you like them!
Oktoberfest in Vienna
Over the weekend I went to my first Oktoberfest with a few girlfriends Kalen and Melissa in Vienna, Virginia. My Oma was sooooo proud of me for embracing my German culture. I definitely need to invest in a dirndl (the girl version of lederhosen) but for now I’ll stick with this sweater-skirt-booties combo. It’s October but it still gets up to 80 degrees most days. I can’t wait for it to actually feel like fall! I thrive in sweater weather. I’ve worn this sweater in a previous blog post from last year, but since it was hot as balls over the weekend, I changed up the look a little.
23 Things I Want To Work On
Since my birthday was a week ago, I was wondering if I should make a “turning 23” post. But I wasn’t quite sure what that would/should be. Since its finally October and the official start to fall, I was thinking about all the fun things I want to do this season and what I need to change in my life to reach my goals. As the leaves change and fall away, I think some of my bad habits should as well. But instead of focusing on only the bad, I want to focus on the good too. Change is good! This time in my life is very unique but I also think 23 is a good year to start getting in the habit of doing certain things to maintain a healthy body and mind. So at the moment, here are the 23 things I’m working on:
Favorite Fall Colors
It’s officially fall, my favorite season. It’s been raining non-stop in Maryland for the past few weeks, but the humidity has subsided so nights are getting cooler. I finally switched out all the summer clothes in my closet for my fall/winter clothes, so even if the weather isn’t in total agreement, I have transitioned to autumn. I have a lot of fall blog ideas I’m excited to share, but I wanted to start off with 3 colors that I’m literally obsessed with right now. Every time I’ve gone shopping in the last few weeks I was on the hunt for these fall colors. I hope after this post you will see why.
Book Review: Circling the Sun
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I am the slowest reader I know. But despite that, I wanted to start this book review series on my blog. I am madly in love with book stores and new books, especially the smell of a newly printed book and that feeling when you finish a really good book. Only problem is…I don’t make reading a priority. The only time I usually set aside time to read anything is when I’m on the beach or on a plane. Now that I’m working 40 hours a week, I tend to put reading at the bottom of my to-do list, unless a book immediately hooks me from the beginning. This was the case with the book I’m reviewing today, Circling the Sun by Paula McLain. Read More >>
23rd Birthday Brunch
“Nobody likes you when you’re 23“… fortunately I know thats not the case because I just had the loveliest birthday brunch with some of my best friends. Today on this September 24th, I am officially 23 years old. I just had the best weekend hanging out with my twin brother Chris, little brother Johnny and best friend Allison down by the water in Southern Maryland where the twin just moved. Then Allison and I drove home super early Sunday morning for this wonderful potluck brunch. Brunch is absolutely my favorite meal of the day, so it was a no brainer this is how I wanted to celebrate. I’m so lucky to have such amazing friends so close to home. I’m not sure what 23 has in store for me but if it is anything like this weekend, this is going to be a spectacular year.
