Hi everyone! As school is quickly approaching, I wanted to tell you my 15 Dorm Essentials! I hope this is helpful for anyone who is going away to college for the first time. I lived in the dorms for 3 years as both a freshman and RA. After setting up my own room and doing countless room inspections, I’ve picked up on what makes a great dorm room. All of these items in my collage are pink which isn’t usually my style, but I still thought were cute (my freshman dorm was teal and black and white, but that’s because my mom picked out most of my stuff because I was not excited for college when I was 18). Below I listed and linked what I think you will absolutely need for college (and you won’t want to forget it):
Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Around 2 years ago, I became obsessed with “healthy things that don’t taste like they’re healthy”. I started looking on Pinterest for recipes for healthy ice cream and breakfast cookies and stumbled upon this recipe: Chia Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies. This recipe is what inspired my little creation here, but I put my own spin on it. The cookies I made are bite-size, a little crumbly and soft. They are oil-free, refined-sugar free and contain Omega-3s from the walnuts and chia seeds. These cookies are perfect for breakfast, a snack or dessert and they are super simple to make.
Life Update
101 Things in 1001 Days
I have wanted to do a list like this ever since I saw Isabella’s list on Yep It’s Prep. (TBH she’s like totally my blogging girlcrush and provided mad inspiration for me to make my own blog in the first place, so big shoutout to her). This post reminds me of when some friends and I used to make summer lists in high school of everything we wanted to accomplish before school started. It got a little aggressive and weird because we made it a contest, but none the less, it was still a solid memory. I’m glad to be doing something like that again.
These are the 101 things I want to accomplish in the next 1001 days. A lot of them have to do with travel. A lot of them have to do with trying new things. A lot of them have to do with bettering myself. All of them are about living life to the fullest (as cliche as that sounds) and seizing opportunities. By the time this list is finish, I will have graduated college. Will I be in grad school? Will I have a full-time job? Will I still be living in Maryland? There are so many unknowns about my future, but that honestly excites me.
1001 days. That is 2.75 years. A lot can happen and change in a person’s life during that time. I’m trying to remember where I was 1001 days ago today and wow that feels like a totally different world. I know a lot of really exciting things are going to happen within these 1001 days. I hope its a period of spectacular transformation for me. I hope the next 1001 days are full of adventure and excitement. I hope I can look back on this list and know I tried my hardest to accomplish as much as possible, and smile back on the memories made because of this list.
I want to encourage you to make your own list as well! It gives you things to look forward to, motivation to push yourself and also achieve some things you’ve always wanted to do. I’ve already forced some of my friends to make a list with me, so join the fun and comment below if you’re joining this journey with me.
Fields of Gold
This past weekend I went to a sunflower field with Kayla (who you may remember from this post). This was the second week the sunflowers were in bloom so most of them had dried out, but it was still so beautiful and picturesque. Plus, I feel like if I ever became a country artist, any one of these pictures could be my album cover. I could not have asked for better weather and Kayla is such a wonderful photographer that it was so hard choosing only a few photos for this blog. Please go check out her website and Facebook page because she is awesome!
Check Me Out
Happy Friday everyone! I am so excited to show off this outfit. I just bought these gingham checkered pants from the Loft Outlet when I was on vacation in Delaware. I have already gotten so many compliments on them, especially when I wore them to work. Plus, they’re high-waisted and that is my favorite style! These are ankle pants on me and I don’t know if that is on purpose or if it is because I’m tall. I thought adding this off-the-shoulder top added a little extra something to the outfit, while the black flats were a simple touch. I’m not sure if I would wear this shirt to work, but I think this look is very chic and modest. I love feeling like I stepped back in time when I wear certain looks. With both a Parisian and a 1950s feel, this outfit is very much a part of my quintessential style.
Marble At It
Get it? Marvel at it? But this post is about marble so I changed the first word. Get it? Anyway…happy hump day! I want to talk about one of my biggest obsessions right now; marble. I love how polished and simple the print is. I love running my hand against anything that is or looks like marble because it is so smooth and soft. I think marble is very minimalist but also oozes luxury and class. Marble comes in all different kinds of colors but I prefer white marble (even though it gets dirtier easier). I hope one day I’ll own a house with marble countertops, but until then, I’ll settle for carrying around marble on my phone case. Below I’ve listed some marble items I own and some on my wishlist. Feel free to marble at them (okay I’ll stop now).
Brace Yourself
I am actually really excited to write this post. Anyone who has been friends with me for over a year knows that my braces are my biggest insecurity. I dreaded having braces since the moment I found out I had to get them and the self depreciating humor has not ended ever since. This is my second time with braces and today marks the one year anniversary to when I got them on again (wow-time flies). I’m hoping that by writing this post that I can help anyone else who has adult braces feel more confident and show that it’s not the end of the world (even though I like to pretend it is).
LBD at Sunset
Greetings from Bethany Beach! I’m currently writing this post in in the living room of the house my family rented this week, while we watch Law and Order: SVU. This house is pretty old school but I love how homey it feels and the character of it. I grew up coming to Bethany every other summer with my family and I loved getting to come back and show my best friend, Allison, this adorable little town. The other night we went to this bar called The Boathouse with my parents and twin brother. Right before we left Allison and I caught this beautiful Bayside sunset and I got to show off my new obsessions: this LBD, these sandals and this grand-spanking new compass necklace.
Stripes in Rehoboth Beach
Over the weekend I crashed my best friend, Allison’s, family vacation in Rehoboth Beach. It was great weekend because not only did we get to go out in Ocean City every night, but I was also able to visit my house in Salisbury and go to the beach for the first time this summer. While I wasn’t able to move anything into my house and I did get sunburned, this weekend was much needed. I caught up with some friends at school and had the best brunch ever at this place called Egg. Allison and I got mimosas and split Peanut Butter French Toast and Eggs Benedict with crab. It was probably the best brunch I’ve ever had (and should out to Allison for treating me). The town of Rehoboth is adorable. There were tons of hydrangeas everywhere and so many stores on Main Street. I had never been here before but I fell in love with the town of Rehoboth and I can’t wait to go back.
