It’s that time again! I loved coming up with my first “101 Things in 1,001 Days” list back in 2017 and tried to mix up this list as much as I could. Here is my recap of my first list. With a current pandemic happening right now, I tried to be optimistic about what I can accomplish in the next 3 years. I don’t know when large events are going to happen safely again or when a vaccine will be developed, but I am trying to cling onto hope that I will be able to travel and hang out with my friends again. But I also decided I wanted this list to focus on the activities and goals that I know I can do, even in the comfort of my home. So with that being said, here is my new list of 101 Things in 1,001 Days:

It’s crazy to think that 1,001 days have already gone by. I have to admit, in the hustle and bustle of life, I forgot about this blog post. Not to mention, for the last three months of this list, we were in a global pandemic. I like to think I could have accomplished a few more things if I wasn’t confined to my house for the last few months. But because it has been 1,001 days, I am concluding this list and moving onto the next. Here is what I have to say about my first 101 Things in 1,001 days challenge.

So I may be like the only person in the world trying to make the HUJI app popular again, but I don’t care. I love film photography and all of the dust, weird lighting and solar flares that come along with it. But I also acknowledge that the world has gone completely digital and sometimes film photography can be wasteful if you’re just going to post those pictures online. So that’s where the HUJI app comes in. You take photos on the app like a disposable camera and it random adds all of these solar leaks, dust marks and more. I love the way these photos on the app look, so for the last month or so I’ve been documenting my life through the HUJI lenses. I definitely took a ton of photos this month, but here are the pics I find most aesthetically pleasing. Enjoy!

Lately I’ve been trying to be a better consumer. A more ethical consumer. I am a firm believer that you hold a lot of power in where you spend your money. One of the ways in which I’m trying to be better is by buying from local and small businesses-especially Black-owned businesses. I saw such a strong community push to support Black-owned businesses in recent weeks, but I don’t want that to just be a trend. I’m glad to see a lot of these businesses getting new promo and selling out like crazy. But I’m personally striving to incorporate purchasing from Black-owned businesses more frequently, especially since I love so many of these products I just tried out.

For the last two weeks, I have muted myself on social media and here on the blog in an effort to amplify Black voices and sources that are educating the public on systemic racism. While I’ve been sharing a lot of posts I find educational on my Instagram stories, I have refrained from making any post up until today. Mainly because I wanted to get my words in order, but also because I’m starting to sense that things are going “back to normal”. And I don’t want that to be the case. I’ve gone back and forth on what I want to say. I’ve narrowed it down to this post for right now, but I’m really only scratching the surface.

Truth be told: there is a lot weighting on my heart right now. And I don’t have the words yet, but I’m getting there. Despite everything happening, I am working on much more articulate blogs for that and am in no way trying to downplay anything with this post. Among everything going on right now in this crazy world, here are 5 little things that brought me joy this week.

It is so crazy to think that 3 years ago today, I was in the midst of getting my jaw surgery. Literally right now, I was only in hour 4 of a 7 hour surgery. It truly feels like it was yesterday. It was such a pivotal time for me, and I love sharing my experience here on my blog. Over the years, many people have reached out to me to ask questions about the surgery or express gratitude for sharing my story online. And it truly warms my heart! So in honor of my 3 year anniversary, I wanted to make this post of some questions I’ve received lately and share how I’m feeling about everything three years later. I also wanted to include some old Snapchats of my jaw surgery process (because I was hilarious back then).

Raise your hand if you’ve seen a single Tiktok video of an influencer telling you that you can make your loungewear look super chic just by adding gold jewelry? I have watched so many! And while I seriously doubt that a little bling is going to amp up my dirty sweatpants/baggy sweatshirt combo, all of those videos have got me thinking about things that glitter. This post is my gold jewelry ‘wishlist’ but there are so many sales happening this weekend, don’t be surprised if I start posting pics in a few weeks with one or two of these…

Did anyone else forget this is Memorial Day weekend? I literally had no idea until I looked at my work calendar and realized I have a half day today. Not that it makes a difference, considering I’m still not leaving my house. It’s so rainy and gross in Maryland today and that will continue on through the weekend. What a bummer. But even with this gloomy weather, I still wanted to share 5 things that brought me joy this week.
