Why You Should Try Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

So something I’ve been really passionate about lately is sustainability and trying to reduce the waste I contribute to the world. One of the first ways I thought of doing so is by not buying traditional shampoo and conditioner bottles. It just seems super wasteful and unnecessary to me to continuously buy bottles, use them for a few weeks and then toss them away. So I did a little research a few months back about shampoo bars! I was skeptical at first but they have really grown on me and I think you should give it a try!

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

But diamonds are a girl’s best friend

So first of all I want to thank my friend Ashley for giving me the idea to recreate this iconic look. I was telling her how many ideas I have to recreate some iconic looks for the blog and she said “Oh you have to do ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. I honestly didn’t know what look she was talking about but after checking out the video of Marilyn Monroe singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” I fell in love with this look and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I had to do a little digging for an inexpensive dress and cheap jewelry but I think I did pretty good. Details below!

Oh, also, I want to thank Kalen for going out in public with me while I was dressed like this and taking these pictures for me. I knew I wanted to shoot these at the Renwick Gallery in DC because of the red carpet staircase and the giant chandelier. It was so fun taking these even if a bunch of random strangers stared at me and I’m so happy with how they came out!

Thanos Goes To Prom

I’m sorry but I literally couldn’t resist calling this blog post “Thanos Goes to Prom”. I’m just saying that with the Infinity Gauntlet and this shade of dress, I’m pretty sure this is actually what Thanos looked like at prom. The Mad Titan would be working it. This look is actually a recreation of what Brie Larson wore to the Avenger’s EndGame premiere. I just heard that EndGame will be re-released to theaters really soon with new footage and a special sneak peak of the new Spider-Man movie. How cool is that!!??? So I decided to recreate this look to celebrate that. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, GO! It’s one of the best movies I have ever seen, no joke. Book Review: Love and Ruin

A weird fact about me: I only read when I’m on planes or when I’m sitting in front of water. I have probably discussed this before in my other book reviews, but it has proven to be even more true with this book.  It has taken me over a year of trying to read this book but I finally did and of course IT WAS WORTH IT! Paula McLain is my absolute favorite author and she has proven herself again with this one. I really thought I was going to make it through this book without crying but of course the water works started in the last 8 pages. Just because it took me a super long time to finish this book doesn’t mean it was good! Here’s my book review:

Fun fact about this dress: it used to be my mom’s! You might remember from this post how much I love hand-me-downs, especially from my mom. It’s like free thrifting and super convenient since 90’s fashion is really making a comeback. It’s a great work dress because it’s long and covers my shoulders. The subtle gingham pattern is one of my summer favs and it’s taking everything in me to not buy more gingham dresses. I added this Gucci belt to bring my waist in and to add a little extra something against the pattern (and my supervisor said she loved it!) I linked similar dresses below!

Summer Bucket List

“Is it summer yet?”-I say as if I get a summer vacation when I don’t because I am a working adult in the working world now with a 9-5 job. That’s right everyone- this summer my tan is going to come from the fluorescent lights in my office because that is where I will be spending the majority of my time. (Hope I don’t get tan lines). But that’s not going to stop me from making a fun list of things I hope to do this summer. Even if I’m working the majority of the time, I love summer and all of the classic activities associated with it. A bunch of my friends are unemployed or taking a break from school this summer, so this list is also for them. If we’re being totally honest on this blog, I feel like a boss ass bitch professional business woman in these pants. I got them on sale from Red Dress Boutique and I’m super excited to wear them to work this week. I already know I’m gonna get hella compliments. I’m tall and I have wide hips, so these wide leg, high-waisted, paperbag pants are great for me and I’m thrilled they’re long enough too (because we all know how hard it is for me to find pants that cover my ankles.) I had so much fun taking these pictures because I was able to act like a super successful CEO in NYC who can’t talk right now because she has to take this call. Tips for Moving Back Home After College

In the spirit of all of my other anniversaries that happen this time of year, I feel it is also important to mark and celebrate one full year of moving back home. That’s right, in case you didn’t know: I moved back in with my parents right after college. There was no doubt I would move back home when I accepted my first full time job (right before my last semester of college began). My job is like 8 minutes away from my parents’ house so it would have been foolish for me to try to find my own place when my parents were totally willing to let me move back home. My brothers are now college graduates too but both decided to not move back home (they also have jobs farther away). So now it’s like I’m an only child. I know not everyone can or want to move back home, but it was the best choice for me. And if you’re like me, you may be in the same position. If you’re worried about moving back home, don’t freak out yet! Here is some advice from me after living back at home for a full year (so far).

Happy Friday! I hope you all have some fun plans this weekend! My weekends usually consist of running around and going on adventures with friends. And on the rare occasion that I actually have a free weekend just to relax, it’s usually spent making plans for the next few weekends. It never ends! Lately I’ve really stacking up my summer with trips and concerts. I actually wore this above above to a Kelsea Ballerini concert a few months ago. Kelsea puts on an absolutely fabulous show and I was in the PIT! I totally cried when she sang “In Between” and I got to hold her hand during Legends!
